these are the most recent life drawings that im kinda happy with.
this is a stone (that kind of stone that is used as pavement for streets)
does it look like one?
seu z (mr. jack)
my life drawing is far from good, and i would love to get some advice from you guys. what pencil do you use, how to render (what i dislike the most is my rendering), etc. right now im trying to render using crosshatch. |

Damn! guys Great stuff!
Max>>Drawing from life once or twice a week is fun, it's kinda like there is no pressure to come up with anything from my head. Just go with it have fun and practice your technique and study. I am sure if you get a chance it will be pretty addictive.
And One to Three min gesture studies (I assign Quick color in PS to spice it up a bit)
Twenty to Twenty-Five min Gouche study from life .
This guys is somewhat my oil painting teacher (ABC_Art aka Aaron Coberly). The model show up late so he posted for us for about 20 to half hour.
Fifty min oil study from life:

Tio Fonfa - I think you should concentrate, especially with hands, on making sure they're proportional -- sketch lightly first and then shade in.
I use 4h pencils to sketch out the outline (LIGHTLY) then I move onto shading the greys with an hb and 2b pencil. The blacks I use 4b-6b or ebony pencils.
A helpful thing with hands, is to photograph a hand, open it in photoshop, convert to greys, and autolevel to study the darks and higlights. _________________ Zombat |

2 minute poses. never done anything less than 20 mins before.
I like it, I seem to pick up this feverish pace and after drawing for a coupe hours, what's that, 30 drawings, I feel like I'm making progress. perceptible progress. Plus, with only 2 minutes, I feel like I make better/morerelevant marks.

Hi, Long time no post I'm afraid.
I had the opportunity to attend - as a guest - a martial art event last weekend. I sat there for hours and filled pages of unfinished lines. One thing i learned, even one-minute poses with models is loOong time compared to blokes with swords practising. All in all it was an excellent exercice in concentration and visual memory - just what Capt.Fred was talking about.
here's some stuff / more at my website http://www.laurentbeauvallet.com

From A pastel series of about 75 pieces ~ 26"x19" on cansen
Jr, Geki and Seth1 keep posting your great stuff ::: this thread needs to pick up steam.
Jr ::: there can never be to many lines ~~~ as long as the lines know where they are going! if your mind disconnects with your hand it is time to stop!
Of course that is easier said than done!

wug. tried to fix her midsection, did not know enough. The shoulder was pushed down a lot and the torso compressed and twisted. Add foreshortening and some backlighting, and I am stumped.

Let's keep posting here :3
I don't like shading with pencil because my scanner doesn't scan grey scale well lol. That is why there always are so strong contrasts on my drawings.
I didn't mess long with hand it was not my target
