So, who has had the PLEASURE of playing Jedi Knight II for PC?
It was just released, and in my opinion, it kicks mucho ass. In fact, I'm pretty certain it's the best game I've ever played. I'm 22 and haven't played a game in like.. 4 or 5 years, but this one has reignited my gaming passions.
What the hell? It sounds like I'm writing an erotic thriller about video games. I'm retarded.
Anyway, anyone else play it yet? |

You are 22 and you haven't played a game in 4 or 5 years?
Why?
Surely, you don't consider yourself too old.
P.S: I want to play JK2 very much as well. Loved Dark Forces.

Well, I don't really consider myself too old... I just lost interest. I find it much more enjoyable to spend my time on the computer fiddling in Photoshop or something equally as expressive.
I guess I've grown out of games for the most part.
However, XBOX and PS2 are tempting me a great deal these days. I think I have a weakness for eye candy. :/ |

It's in EB here as well, but that's not to say I have the retail version of the game. Frankly, that's none of your damn business and I'll thank you to stay out of my personal affairs.

It was ok. *shrug*
played the first level half-way through. So far nothing really interesting. AI seems to fairly smart occasionally, but in general the enemies seem to be just somehow... dumb? I mean, you're basically running against fucking hordes of stormtroopers and they hit you perhaps twice and you just utterly slaughter them all. I've never been into that kind of playing, where you can just easily (and unlogically) kill hordes of enemies without too much trouble.
Visuals ok. Some pretty stuff. =}
I hope this game will impress me later on with some stuff, but the first level anyways is nothing spectacular.

bland unininteresting half ass textures, poor lighting, poor maps, it has some fun factor because it's Star Wars, but leaves me wanting more..
Here's an example of what I mean:
It's good stuff don't get me wrong, but it's just half assed. I guess I'm just getting used to the Medal of Honor/Return to Castle Wolfenstein great looking textures and maps made like the Threewave CTF maps..
Try some Quake3 Threewave CTF and check out some of my work.. And then check out JK2 again..
Where's the atmosphere? Where's the good stuff? There just isn't any, it's just like running in vertex mode, no lighting in the maps, no interesting objects, blah.
Looks like a rush job to cash in on the EP2 crowd and JK fans.

I was not impressed by it so far. I'm at the second level and it's exactly the same as the first level, the colour of the levels consists mostly of grey, red, and blue (but I bet 80% of it are grey). Don't get me wrong, Star Wars is my favorite movie and grey is my favorite colour, but I think they didn't do a very good job for the beginning part of the game. In Jedi Knight, the first few levels are more than just rooms full of enemies, they have innocent bystanders and strange alien music, and that adds personality to it. But the real fun begins when you get the lightsabre. I hope I can get the lightsabre in JK2 soon, because I'm start to get bored.
...But I know the lightsabre will save it because I have played lightsabre duel with my friend for several times, and it was really fun. If you're losing your interest, play the multiplayer. |

I just got back from my montly lan and we all had a blast with it, especially around 10-15 in one battle
Of course I usually only play lightsabre only. If I want to play a fps gun game, I can just go play some counter-strike or Command and conquer |

As an fps game it's rather fun..nice graphic and music etc.
But dont expect it to be the best sword fighting game..the controlls are quite bad.
The sword moves are already animated so you dont use your mouse to make any new ones.
The only thing u controll is when to do them (left click mouse)and in what direction u want them to hit.
i really wanted to trick someone and then block, slash, block darth vader style.
But that isn't possible at all.
I dont know what I was expecting really bitching like this, but I thought the lightsaber controlls would be better and give u more controll over the lightsaber itself.
But it's damn fun to do flips and back jumps.. |

No, actually thet made the blocking easier, you just have to face the enemy fire to block them. As for the sword control, I thought it was quite well done. The default key for "sword stance" is L, it changes the way you hold the sword and you also swing differently. If you hold the lightsabre like a Claymore, your slash is more powerful but slower; but if you hold it like a katana (the default stance), you swing faster but does less damage. I can't remember what the other stance is, but I think there are three in total. You can't do sword fighting as good as Die By The Sword, no one can, but JK2's sword fight is pretty good for a FPS. |

I gotta agree with Ahcri Die By the Sword was the best sword fighting game I've seen (it was fun to hack your opponent to tiny bits too haha). I haven't got the saber in JK2, but so far I think it's .... pretty good
I say pretty good, because I don't think it's anything revolutionary, I'm pretty sure it runs on the quake 3 engine (didn't read up about it) which is old news. Reguardless, it's still a pretty game, just nothing spectacular. The game play is fun, the thing I like most is the number of enimies on screen at once. So overall I'd give it... 8/10

well I was outta town for 5 days and I just bought it yesterday and got to play it for an hour before going to bed last night... I kinda like it. I dont see the weird texture stuff you guys are looking at.. the look pretty sharp to me. I dont particularly like the fell of motion in the game.. almost too smooth..... but I played a few minutes of Multiplayer online and... OH MY... I really enjoyed it. |

lightsabre duels
HOLY CRAP i love it...im not even a huge star wars fan...i think i really like it cuz i have played too much Q3 and CS. and i am really not into the weapons/FPS shooter part of the game
but one on one sabre duels rock. |

It really does get better later in the game, once you get the lightsaber in single-player missions, the game became incredibly fun. Only one thing to complain about though, on one level, you met Lando, and he'd give out all kinds of tasks to carry, such as "Go fill up my gas tank!", "Go open the roof entrance!", "Blast those gunners with my gun!" Oh Lando! |

Well I haven't played single player yet. But I am enjoying the multiplayer. My only complant is the that the lightsaber fighting system sucks... or rather doesn't make much sense to me. Should a light saber kill you with 1 or 2 hits? Seems like the light sabers never hit each other or something. Eh... I can't describe it, but I am kinda disappointed with the system. Not very invotavative, the should've taken more hints from Bushido Blade. |

I dunno..I like watching lightsaber fights from a distance, waiting for one of them to die so I can take on the winner.
Id love to see some objective based missions, spanning over a few levels to accomplish one goal. Lightside vs. Darkside.
Id also like to see some double lightsaber carryers (two sabres) and sabre staff (darth maul style) carryers. Still Ive been having a blast with the multiplayer but I cant seem to get past eh second mision in single player... but I really do suck so far. |

I recently discovered that you can cheat to get the double-edge lightsaber in multiplayer. But you'll have to cheat to get it, so it wouldn't be very fair.
All you have to do is: Bring up the console (Shift + ~), type "devmap [map name]" (i.e. jedi_duel)". Wait for the level to load, once it's done, choose your lightsaber by pressing "1", then holster it by pressing 1 again. Bring up the console and type "/thedestroyer", and the result will look like this:
(Don't know why is my screenshot so dark, but you get the idea) |

You guys know there is a cheat that makes it so that each hit severs limbs and heads etc right? It is the one hit kill cheat you know you all want badly.
Let me see if I can find it again... |

Press [Shift]+[~] to open console.
Type "devmapall" in console and press [Enter].
Type "g_saberRealisticCombat 1" and press [Enter]. Note: 1 is used to enable functions, 0 to disable.
you'll need a lightsabe to do it.
"give all" is the cheat code to get all weapons and ammo and stuff |

Somehow I like choosing Lando in the multiplayer, loading up a dozen bots and watch him get torn to shreds |
