Matthew: i recognize some of the stressy feel i have sometimes too, your last pic for example, the pillars on the walls could be much more exact with even less time spent on them, if you think a bit more how to make them, thinking before will save u more time than doing and then fixing what's wrong. saving time means more time to do more details, and so on
digitalxtreem: whicked stuff! very moody and technically well done too!

Yeah Matthew! Nice work. The indoor one with the arches is awesome. Wow ( saves to hard drive ).
I did a lot of acrlyic painting today. not really finished stuff but just sketches and speed paintings.
1 hour and 30 minutes. Just messing around with painter 9 because I only have 5 more days left to use it.
1 hour astract landscape
Rode my bike like 6 miles to find this house. 1 hour
I had a image opened on my computer monitor and I just tried doing a speed painting with real acrylic. ahha speed... 3 hours.

THis goes with the desert speed painting I posted earlier. THe perspective on the city could of been worked out nicer but I didnt want to use guides so I winged it. Overall I think it's a pretty good render of what I imagined in my head.
No ref.
Painter 9
2 hours.

u guys are very kind, thx for all the nice comments.
Capt.Flush, thanks for the tip there I know what u mean, some brushstrokes should be left alone but I am way to eager to brush over them again.
octavian, I like that cake oil painting.
viag, really nice mood.
Chris-Mayernik, I really like that latest pic u posted.
a wake up morning rise and shine scribble, still tired, still couldn't do the brush-strokes right like Flush mentioned, hehe.

Fred, sometimes it is easy, sometimes it is not. As time goes on. A greater percentage of the time is easier. Mileage is really important, with smart mileage being a good multiplier, if that makes sense.
Stewart one, thanks, I liked my first bond sketches better as well. I was doing my own designs, mostly. That is always more fun and the result tends to be more organic
P-Rik, I was given plans and elevations. I build a very simple 3-d model because the forms were complex, also allows for a better composition because you can try so many things- also it is fast, and speed is required on concept work. Also explores the reality of the space better (no cheesy 2-d cheats allowed) Most of the times the model has about 50 polys at most. You can sink a lot of valuable time into 3-d that could be better spent on the final art.
Nice work Sosen!
Sheff, I work at all different sizes. The magic brushes are the ones that people demand that I send them or they will kill my kat. They don't believe that I paint with the default brushes that come with PS. I'm serious it has happened more than a few times.
Retro, I really enjoy the drawings you have on your site. You are going to do well, as you are already.
Sorry matthew, no more cowboys. No ideas in my head. Maybe later. Listen to Flushy, what he said is right, IMO. It will help you to be better and faster to figure what needs attention up front. Edit, just saw your latest, yes, you get it, nice! You are getting so much better, and I am glad that you have done it your way as opposed to what everyone was telling you. It was risky, but in the end I think you are coming more to your own place than if you had done it the academic way.
Splooge to post
I remember I painted something like this a while ago and someone was incensed that it was so swarmy and sentimental. Like something a Grandma would hang on the wall. I agreed to get back to the serious business of chicks with swords.

Oh...my...GAWD! The most annoying thing just happened to me! I spent a couple of hours on this drawing, and it looked exactly like I wanted it to. Then, I decided to add a tiny shadow under the chin, and my pen just FARTED all over it! FARTED, I say! A big wet FART! I tried to make it look intentional by adding more shadows on the face, and evening out the edges of the BIG BLACK BLOB, but, no, the picture was ruined. Cover the face and the horrible blotch around it, and you'll see what I mean.
I'll probably draw it again some time, but I'm too honked off right now.
[edit] - Tried to fix it by scribbling over even MORE of the face...I think I killed it. _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

Good as always Freebooter. I really like the expression in the eyes. The features of the face are really three dimensional. |

Capt.FlushGarden <> Thank you . . . glad you enjoy my work .. . your latest one is great ! I also like your video game concepts for "The chronicles of Riddick" . . . I recently picked up the game on the X-Box, and love the textures in that game, and the engine with such great bump and specular map support. Also the way everything turns blue when his vision is activate it . . . spend hours on it the other day . .
Socar<> Really nice work
Viag<> very cool stuff
Great work everyone else
Another concept from "GRAVITY IX" <my personal project>. I'll have more information, and more work regarding the project early 2005 on my web-site.

Awesome matthew, already better, now try to keep the sharpness and add textures, and DONT just slap one flat onto the surface, make sure that the textures are following perspective somewhat, s'gonnabeawesomeitellya!
Socar myles: what a shame! maybe you could correct it digitally, make it black and white, remove the texture of the paper and then print it out on a similar paper again? sue the pen company for what u think you could have sold the image for
Spooge:you should make a trip to sweden and paint some of the cosy houses we have here! i love your winter spring melted snow grandma pix just as much as your swordchix!
Digxtreem: thanx alot! that was a long time ago, i love vins comments in that game, "mmm darkness" hehe, havent played the final game tho, im still waiting for a free copy but im gonna go out and buy it soon if i dont get it hehe. lovelly color in your donut space station thingy!

Capt. Flushgarden, very nice work. very very emotional piece there. i hail u for it. lol.
digitalxtreme- wow. i love spaceart, and thats just beautiful
20 minutes. trying to get the skin tones. i didnt worry about anatomy. i read an article by Ron Lemen, and it shed alot of light on stuff. right away i painted some fundamental objects. then i went over to skin tones. hope i did an ok job on the color.
