Without going into my whole friggin life story, Ive been browsing these forums for around a month now but have never posted anything. Not because I dont have any good work. Because I dont have any work at all. Well, I got a tablet the other day and decided to hammer out a test image (to acclimate myself to the thing) and it turned out not-entirely-crappy. According to the subject (Lizzy), you folks should think its good because you dont know what she looks like
Anyhoo, I have a huge amount of respect for everyone on these boards and I just wanted to thank you all for inspiring me to give this ole painting thing a try.
And heres the not-entirely-crap (7 min I think):

@igino : not too fond of the bluey shadow, dunno why the orange patch makes me want some green in there, the top part of the shadowed area , the shoulder-pectoral joint is a bit hard to read, but otherwise it's gorgeous !
@mr spooge : looks like there is a half sunken minibus on the front of the image, one of those old VW minibus probably (ps: thanks for being so active on this forum, and for sharing your thoughts/tips with us)
@sosen ( just BELOW this post ) : nice ! I love the 3rd image, I have no idea what it is though, looks like some guy watching a scultputre in a museum alley?
@ ALL : thanks for posting, coming to this thread every once in a while is like opening a box of chocolates, or jewels.... hmmm (well with the occasional half eaten, hard as nail, old left over pieces of biscuit.. ) _________________ "I'm not a shrimp, I'm a KING PRAWN !" -- Pepe.

Chrusher: Thanks for commenting, yeah, I think that's because I'm guessing a lot = lots of strokes I hope that my strokes will get more confident when I know more what the heck I'm doing
Rassel: such good use of colors, very impressive. What program do you paint in?

Sorry, kind of dropeed off the face of the earth there. I was gone for the weekend.
Roma-I block in everything at once tryng to figure out color and composition. Once it gets to detail time, then it is typically back to front.
Stewart one, Chris-Mayernik, Lunatique, Odds, Capt.FlushGarden, sparth- Thanks a lot for the compliments on the city, I really appreciate it.
I will try and have something soon, work piled up again. _________________ Dylan

Stewart one: thanks alot!!! your argument kinda forced me to finish this old pice. thanks again : )
I am really glad someone likes my stuff...hope you like this one too.
well,..so, this is a painting made over a semi textured blockmodeling.
Quite unusual technique for me but it was interesting.
As you see I really like this post apocalyptic atmosphere. you will see alot more scifi cities in the near future. at least I hope so. till now I am not really satisfied with any of them...
Prometheus City
and here the version before the giant explosion - let me know which one you like better or...ahh,...which one isn't as bad as the other one
Keep it up everybody. awesome work guys!!!! |
