I wanted to shoot Elena in a white sweater. So here we are.

I felt like such a failure after my first try at studio lighting yesterday, so I gave it another shot today. It's amazing how much of a difference there is between what you think you know and what you can do when the moment of truth demands your best. I've read literally a big stack of books on studio lighting, and all that goes out the window the second I stand there thinking about how to design the lighting setup. I suppose you can call this session another failed attempt.

Elena getting prepared for the shoot:

Here's the latest disaster and blatant display of my incompetence:

One 1200WS, two 600WS, one 400WS, two softboxes, one honeycomb grid with barndoors, and one brolley.

Nothing to say for me...

Hum...
All this lighting seems to be well-placed
But it's very difficult (for me) to have on objective eye on your shot... I always are captived by your little model... Hum ... ok

Try to be serious...

My favorite : 1, 6 and 7 (Really nice lighting and composition or cadrage ... maybe framing... So bad in English!)

About the other ( Very little little negative points for me ):
2 >> Lighting and cadrage
3 >> Lighting focused on her shoulder
4 >> BG too bright
5 >> More lighting on her face needed
8 and 9 >> idem...
10 >> Not enough contrasted
Difficult to found for the others...

Anyway, you are the best photographer i known! ... And you have the greatest model i have ever seen.

Each of your pic is a poem for me.
Keep up that good shoot...

Pierrick

I really enjoy have the chance to see some good photography here at sijun too. that's a pretty nice contrast to all the "painting" going on here.
keep up the good work and don't hesitate to post more of your stuff : )
people maybe won't reply so often but they for sure look at your pretty photos.
