Amazing thread! Feels like visiting Sijun for the first time.
Heres two painted on photo:
And couple on nothing...
This is a work in progress, but at least Im going to make it as good I possibly can.

Broken wine glass on piano keys. I like that tense feeling brought about by the juxtaposition of implied finger tips and fine shards of glass...
This picture was originally created over 12 years ago using the vector based CorelDRAW! graphics program and actually won one of the monthly contests Corel was holding at the time.
Here's the original vector based CorelDRAW! picture
When I first made it in CorelDraw! I didn't know anything about Photoshop. But shortly afterward I was told that bitmap artwork was a better path forward, so I bought Photoshop 3 and started forward. The picture above was originally done in Photoshop 4 and updated last year in Photoshop 6. I should note there is no photographic imagery in the picture... it is all Photoshop painting and function use. I have a tutorial on how I did the wood grain on my website. _________________ HonePie.com

Eyewoo, I remember you posting that broken glass image here years ago as a small thumbnail in some thread. Since it is a still-life that image has always stuck with me and been great inspiration since I first saw it. _________________ http://prettydiff.com/ |

Many impressive works here, most of which i have already seen, but i always like to know the personnal favorites of an artist.
Eyewoo: That is quite an huge improvement from the corelDraw version! ...but of course 12 years ago that must have been some great digital work.
pauldavidson: nice rendering skills! The version on epilogue is much smaller, its cool to see more of the details!
*secretly posting this... my other creations must not feel jealousy

Hay Spectra,
When you post, you need to place a link to the image file (and not the html file) inbetween the img tags. Better luck next time. _________________ Her eyes were cold and harsh....which made them hard to chew. |

I love this thread - great idea.
And awesome works from everyone - I couldn't pick a favorite from the posted pictures here, every single one of them has something to it.
This one is my best recepted picture by far - probably the one I worked on the longest time:
details and bigger versions
I like more the simplistic stuff. This is my personal fav:
bigger version

Possibly this, but the design makes me cringe.
I hesitate to include this, as it's a study of a an Albert Bierstadt piece.

Digital:
or traditional:
Maybe these aren't the best I've done technically speaking, especially compared to newer stuff I can't post yet because of NDAs, but I like them because they have themes I like. (I like dead stuff--ewwwwww! What a creep!) _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

Skull. Spyro. Heysoos. P-Rik. Awesome stuff!
Sumaleth, nice light ambience throughout.
It's nice to see a thread like this pop up that shows what artists would consider their best work. I hope it lasts a while.
Well since there are a couple of 3D images in this bunch, I thought another wouldn't hurt, cause it's probably the best 3D model I've done to date.
And also 3 digital paintings that are probably my best...

eyewoo - That... is... amazing! I love the Corel version even more because the creative filter use and the realism in the glass.
amoe - three wonderfully different works for you *stares*
My real personal best can't be posted because it's unreleased copyright material. If anyone who remembers, it's the Dinobot slag I posted two years ago
Entry for a Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse contest:
For the eatpoo tarot cards:
A fun exploration of jungle creature designs:

Thanks Highfive... but, no creative filter use in either picture. The woodgrain in the
Corel version is made from lots of dupped objects and the grain in the Photoshop version
is made using the selection tool to draw with and then manipulate in quick mask and with
various adjustment tools.
Here's another...

I like it. I think I can imagine what kinds of duped shapes you used, but there must've been a lot of planning and testing these shapes involved before you began the work. Was this produced before you ever had a Wacom tablet? _________________ www.high5art.com |

Before a Wacom? Yep... I used a Kurta tablet...
As I recall, Corel had an option to merge two shapes with a given number
of steps. You entered the number of steps and the program created a
series of shapes that morphed from one shape to the other. I used that
function to create the vector wood grain... In fact, as I further recall,
there was an article in Corel magazine about how I did it. However, I
don't think the magazine is still published.
EDIT: I just rooted through an old box of published stuff and found the
issue - Corel Magazine, February 1995.
Here's another CorelDRAW! image. The pic on the left is the original
CorelDRAW! image and the one on the right is same image after passing
it through Photoshop to color correct and add (gasp) the lens flares. I'd
like to make note, as far as I can recall, that is the only time I've ever used the lens flare filter.

Considering the feeling I had painting it I would say, this is my best work to day:
I especially like how everything is communicated with the least amount of detail. I never was able to capture my imagination in such a way yet. _________________ Que la fuerza te acompae! |
