I would seperate the creature from the background a little more.
for the arm, try to use some bouncelight from below, that might help establish form. also his left knee could get some b-light.
keep it up Smile

well, you have a orange backlight, so you could use a blue lightsource outside the cave, as a really strong contrast. also blue would mean it is night Smile keep on going

Heh I actually thought of this beeing inside the cave and that the opening was the way out... but after reading your post I kinda agree with you, this could be either one I guess... Smile

Well updated version anyways and thanks again for your help.

I made an op to demonstrate what I mean. Not quite right but you should get it.
If you zoom out in your painting, the creature isnt in contrast with the background. you solve this with the backlight, which makes the silhouette glow.

Good start. I thought I'd make an overpaint showing something similiar to the blue light darkside talked about. I also brightened the background on the left side, so he would stand out a little more. (I also managed to screw up the shape of the creature Rolling Eyes )

Having both warm and cool light at the same time is often a good idea since it's possible to not only have contrast between light and dark, but also between colours with/of(?) the same value (by making them cool and worm of course)
