poster comps for a Potter movie. Speedpainting in the "real" world! They wanted me to do more finished versions after these, but a rep I was working with(not resources) overpriced it. I dunno what the final looked like.

here's some more

another one

and another!

stop already

nice potter comps. i wish for once they'd make a poster from an actual sketch instead of the never-ending line of clean & smooth shit that's everywhere.

had to make my own fish after bg. nice stuff, army brought some sharper edges into your way of painting it seems. excellent.

Craig, these are terrific ! The lighting is soooo well done . . . have you ever tired to get this look and feel with oils ? (I am referring to your Potter comps) I've seen some of your acrylic work, yet I wonder if you have experimented with it, as far as figures goes. I did try a various landscape concept in oils for Van Helsing, and other personal stuff, yet it is really hard to get the figures looking similar to my digital work. I still paint in oils in my free time, but mostly landscapes . . Thank you for sharing these very inspiring pieces Very Happy

watmough> That dark seascape (is that even a word?) you did a while ago was damn cool.

To balance those nice fishes, here's a shitty one.

The only thing speedy about this is the background Smile I suppose I could have left it white.

I was trying a new technique
Black watercolor to get the lights and darks and add texture, then colorize.

The last time I posted here was over a year ago. Matthew you sure have improved yikes!

Lots of great stuff on this page, especially those potter pictures; that second one (first link) is mindblowing.

I can dig that, Frederickson. Coincidentally, here's another bright forest scene, only not so good.

Using that grass brush makes me feel so lazy...

Zhuzhu: The body is awesome (also awesomely painted Wink). But the face does not quite fit in - I think the shape is too small and angularly, also the lighting is too monochromatic compared to the body.

I really like the style of the picture. How did you get this look (which program did you use)?

i didnt dare to finish this one...got so bored of it -_- i used opencanvas and it was a little frustrating. i used the watercolor tool. now the problem i faced was, that lets say i make a dot in grey. then i use a lighter grey over the borders of this dot and try to make them together. then the borders of that first grey dot are still to see -_- well anyway u can see that on my pic. i think it kinda looks like very soft clay where u see all fingerprints ;p

i was trying to rework all the piece cuz all the lightning didnt work.

im sorry for the big size but i didnt figure out how to crop pics wiv opencanvas beta 1

the ehadshape is like this cuz there would be hair later..
