Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy

Think I just dated myself by quoting that lyric. I don't love this jungle yet, and it _is_ driving me crazy. Let's see where it goes.

Okay, so I've dropped in some foliage. Characters are next. I think I might plop another guy in the foreground...

So, I'm thinking it's a sci-fi thing, with a gang of young bravos advancing over something like Mayan ruins...

I like the direction this seems to be taking. The colours are particularily interesting, the composition is working quite well but I'm not totally sold on it. Are you working at a reasonable size? it looks like you may be working too small, or is this just the rough sketching stage?

One thing I'd suggest is that you rework some of the shapes of your brushtrokes. Define hard edges clearly and remove any stray strokes which do nothing more than reveal the brush shape. Each stroke needs to say something about the forms. It's tough, but it could be beneficial for you to start approaching some of the shapes with this in mind. I'm probably reading too much into it... how far along are you with it?

I'm working at 12x15 inches @ 220 dpi, but it's pretty rough still. So, I guess I'm still in the sketching stage. I'm definitely going to have to go back into this and clean up some of the wilder strokes. A major problem I have, though, is that my final images begin to lose their spontaneity and motion as I take them from sketch to final. Never really figured out how to fix that, so I often stop at late sketch before I get unhappy with it.

Here's the next step. I think I'm pretty happy with the composition, but the lighting and details are definitely touch and go at this point.

I'll go back into the shapes now, like you said, and try not to lose the colors or fluidity.

Shocked this is really awsome man! I like it a lot! How long have you been working on it? Can't wait to see the final result!
