There is a wealth of talent on this board, and I was curious how old all of you are and if you have any formal training (college degree for example).

Personally, I'm 19 with no degree, however I will be attending Digipen Institute of Technology next fall. I did attend a crappy local community college for 2 years while I was in Highschool with focus on graphic design... but 90% of the people there couldn't draw stick people.

I'm 14 and in grade 8 (I have an early birthday). Next year I'm going to high school. I've always liked art and writing. I've taken Art as a required course every year so far, and I've chosen it for one of my electives next year. I also draw whenever I get the chance at home.

My mom is/was also an artist. She doesn't draw much any more, though.

I'm 20 and I'm in college When I was in high school, I often hide in the studio all day instead of going to classes, it's a wonder how I ever graduated. I went to art school when I was 13 for 2.5 years, that's about all the formal training I've ever had.

21 yrs old

final year at university, graphic, product and interactive design degree - 3yr course ...nearrrllyy finished!

before that 2yrs at art college.

id love to work in the games special effects industry... doesnt everybody..

ive noticed that qualifications dont matter a toss though, except to get your foot in the door, or to impress someone with the amount of letters after your name!

I'm 21, studying product design. It's a five year course, with three still to go.
I'm not really happy with it, as most people seem to think 3d-modeling is easier than sketching, and sketching is not necessary to communicate with people.
I also attended part-time artschool (on saturdays) since I was ten. It was mostly goofing around with clay, lino and all kinds of recycled materials. Drawing came in second place.

33. I hold a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) with a concentration in painting. I also also have minors in English lit, psychology and anthropology. Who'd have thunk I had any English at all with my typos. I'm considering pursuing a Master of Fine Arts, but I've all but abandoned traditional oils for digital. I don't think there are many accredited institutions who recognize digital art as a legitimate medium.

19, didn't do art all the way through high school, but have drawn most of my life. Inspired by Mum who's an artist from time to time. Have a diploma in IT Games Software Development, a Cert IV in Assessment and Workplace Training and currently doing a Fantasy Comic Drawing short course. I think it's becoming more and more a necessity that I should go and do a fine arts course of some description.

27, no art school or something. Just started using Photoshop to draw with somewhen last year. But I was using PS already for almost 7 years, mostly to make textures for 3D models and processing/preparing images and things like that.

jesusclone: you're going to go to digipen? i work with someone who's going there right now.

i'm 18, sophomore in art [3d animation] school. I also took some cc 3d courses in high school. most of what I know I taught myself, and by working at a graphic design company around the end of high school. right now i'm going through what i need to go though to graduate, and learning a ton from working at a games company.
