Most artists who posted on the subject seemed to feel that 6"x8" to be optimal for CG work. Very few believe that you need larger ones. However, there were a few who are more comfortable with even smaller tablets because they were very adept in using the mouth to paint, and the greater distance need to move the stylus bother them.

Also... there are digital artists, and then there are digital artists.

Fer' instance, I'd like to know what a pro like Craig Mullins uses.

there's a tool on wacom's website that helps you decide the size depending on your field of work and monitor size... i think that's what really matters, becuz your hand will be able to adjust to any size...

well but it recommends the 6x 8. . well i really just want to know what the actual users of the tablets use. what are some other brands? and also. like, even if it is too small does that mean i can only draw THAT big? cause i don't think i would mind having to adjust the area that i'm working on here and there y'know? thanks for ur replies thus far

I have a few friends who decided to buy an Aiptek tablet, because it's considerably a LOT cheaper than wacoms, still with a nice amount of features, somewhat equivalent to that of the graphire. One of them decided to buy a 9x12" one for $150 USD.

Well, to make a long story short, it broke. The cursor randomly skips huge distances for seemingly no reason. I myself had some minor skipping problems with my Intuos tablet, but that was because of my screen radiation. Move your tablet far away from the screen, and it'll stop. Or, even better, increase the Hz of your screen. OR, best of all, buy a flat screen.
