The first pic in a series I'm doing entitled "MY INTARWEB FRIENDS!" About 2 hours or so of painting and wasting time on the internet/watching tv. Longest time spent was doing the lettering.
Cici: this city stuff is badass
Doug: I love the perspective on that
Zhuzhu: Nice guns >=]
Zhailimuto: <4<4<4
Matt Dixon: Sweet colors man, I love it _________________

Hi^^ I'm new here, well just a topic in the finished work section, a chaos warrior that took me one week, but I have to practice my colors skills and my speed, so, I give a try to speedpainting, well, moderate speed, something like 1h30-2h, but as I focused on getting the colors right, I forgot about the anatomy and she had the face slightly-heavily twisted, so I spend wayyyyyy too much time correcting this Still something wrong with the nose...
It's hard to stick with big brushes and big brush strokes XD
With reference :
I have a few questions :
-1) Are we allowed to post in this topic only if a speedpainting is uploaded ?
-2) Well I have lot of questions about speedpainting, but as always it would turn into an essay. So are there tutorials, maybe a "notorious topic" on this board giving a lot of tips, technics and everything about SP ? I did a search for "speedpainting tutorial" but it didn't returned many results.
Should I try with shades and add colors ? Or don't worry about that and work straight with colors ? When working with a reference, how have I to work : Should I pick the colors on the ref and just do many artwork of lot of different topics just to get the colors as "a reflex" ? Or should I look at the picture but figure the colors out by myself ? (that looks easy, but that's hard ! like listening to a specific song when there are 10 stereo playing in the same room, though I never found myself listening to 10 stereos at the same time... )
Well anyway, amazing work here.
Oh and I'm french, sorry for my unperfect english^^. _________________ BLeh |

Sorry this is bad...I wanted to try and make a matte painting but I lost interest in it too early
Capt Flush - Really nice portrait. I was wondering,
did you have any education or are you purely self-taught? |

thanx guys, awesome work everyone, whicked kool!!
bandados: I'm "self taught" though I would like to change that by going to some sort of school, cause being self taught definatelly feels like missing gaps of knowldege that I might never find if I don't go to a school... how bout you?
Behold the car that is so extremelly advanced in design, it actually looks out of perspective in this exact angle LOL
artrage 1.1 (awesome)

Testing a couple of custom-brushes I did for painting explosion and that kind of stuff.
This guy started out as an explosion - about 15 min - photoshop brushes are fun...

*sigh* Starting from the bottom of this thing.
Capt. FlushGarden, sexy girl, and slick car! I checked your site, very inspiring work.
dougbot, I love the environment. The lighting and perspective rocks.
watmough, really cool environment. The close-up shot of the eagle shows some VERY interesting brush strokes there.
zhalimuto, lots of life in that bearded man picture. Keep it up!
Cicinimo, wicked! That reminds me of a rather speedy car trip through the streets of Stockholm some time ago. Very cool.
zhuzhu, you're getting far too many praises from me, but consider yourself praised again! Very stylish and nice work. Damn, I'll be waiting for a chance to BURST YOUR EGO BUBBLE, bastard...
Omi-kun, DDR? As in East Germany or Dance Dance? If the latter, do you play, or was it just some random photo reference you came across somehow?
Blaah, enough comments. I know I left out a lot of stuff, but I'm lazy by nature. Keep it up guys, everything's looking good!
Not-so-speedy portrait attempt of some cute girl photo I found. Messy eyes, but I'm confident I'll be good at this in only a few hundred finished portraits from now. I think. Wow, I talk too much.
Just out of curiosity, is there some official definition for what a speed painting is? I get tempted to overwork things at times, but I refrain from doing so to keep things within a SOMEWHAT reasonable timeframe (usually). _________________ What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Lemur, I was asked by a golf pro once what I did and I said "painter" He asked me 6 months later for a quote on his new media room. I told him I was booked at the time.
Falk, to me a speedpainting is one that is without client-induced neurotic nonsense thrown on top. If a client would respond "it's not finished!" then it is ripe. An image before all life is bled from it.
As far as painttopost, I think I started that a long time ago, trying to keep the S/N ratio down. Some follow it, some don't but as long a some do it does what it is supposed to.
