MCBarret: Great cityview (the hangar thingy). Amazing how effortless, yet great the clouds/city look.

Zhu: I love the colors in the last one. Very colorful skin - but still looks real. Although more unregular brushes would have been better IMO than the round brushes.

HardcorePix: Great work.

somewhat under 2h:

bigger

Mathew : How long have you been painting? You are so good and I see that you practice everyday. Do you work in the game industry or something? ohh and if you have a website what is the address to it? I see you post everyday it seems and that really inspires me to go practice hard. Thanks!

Good job everyone!

YEs! I fixed photoshop! haha, I am so dumb because all I had to do was click a little button. I spent hours trying to figure it all out and reloading photoshop. Lol, stupid button.

photoshop 7. No reference. 1 hour

Art rage- 25 minutes or so.

Photoshop 7, 1 hour 15 minutes, Photo reference used.

My latest Black and white acrylic 9 x 12 speed paintings. THese were really speed paintings because I had to get most of them done in a hour before the sun moved to much or it became night. All of them were done outside around where I live. Sadly, most of them are all wrong. Its so hard to figure out what values I am really seeing in a color. Atleast I know what I did wrong.

thanks, glad you like the colors of my work.i know custom brushes and textures will make the painting looks cool or better. but aslo cover something.so i try to use the simple round brush do the basic of drawing, that's the point~~~ Very Happy

I was here 24 hours ago and how many pages have been filled? nice!

Matthew, blur your eyes and look at your ref. See how the back arm is darker than the forward? His left side as well. You have painted all these with the same value range, and it flattens things out.

I will predict two retorts and parry them in advance Smile

1)"its a 30 second sketch!" Yes, but no matter how little time you have, you have to figure out what is the most important and get that. After the drawing, the big value relationships of the major forms/shapes are pretty important.

2)"I like to push the highlights cause it looks exciting..." I remember using gouache to highlight reflective car drawings at art center. God it was fun. One aspirin cures a headache, why not the whole bottle? Because you will die in twenty minutes with and ex-liver. Same thing with pushing contrast. Just say no! Read the sargent notes- "classify your values" There can be only one! brightest bright. Figure out where it is and make sure all else is subordinate. Same with the darks (that's one sure giveaway photo abuse- poor value structure in the darks- unless the photo was good)

I have a long standing tradition of contradicting myself with and image, so here's to confusion

Chris: Love your mountain fortress - awesome.

Ultrahsu: You skins tones are beautifual - I ref your paintings whenever I attempt a portrait but can never get it right.

Wassup: That piazza is so atmospheric - can't see no screwup there.

Not a speed painting as such - but the background is a speedy posted before.

Tried hard to make the foreground figure a speedy too - but I kept fiddling and fiddling until several hours had gone by...

I need to disipline myself as I want to be as concise as you all are in this thread. Totally in awe guys!

Spooge, that is really quick and the result is beautiful aswell, very good. thanks for the tip there. Smile

Chris-Mayernik, thank you. I have been doing this for almost 3 years now and started out late (I am 27 years old at the moment) so I have had hell learning everything and there is Millions of miles still to learn.
I used to be an electrician and un-employeed half the time and the forces of nature has working against me with the art thing but I will not quit.

It's very cool that u guys get inspired by me I feel very happy that I can inspire people, thank you.
Right now me is attending an art-school and the second and last year starts now in late August so lots and lots of learning, gonna be cool.

The site is :
http://www.lensflares.net

but it is nothing exciting there really so I removed the link in the forums where I am a member. Mostly I am posting stuff here in the speedy and then I add it to the site, can't add all crazy paintings I do, I actually throw away some of it too cause it takes too much space.
Thanks again for your comment. btw I really like those acrylics, especially the house painting.
keep it up

Fantasy pic to post along with the rambling

keep up everyone
