WoW.... I move this weekend and come back to this thread only to find some of the best art I've seen on here!

Pringle: I'm digging your mechs. Specially that angular one!! I'm having trouble with atmospheric light in photoshop... I've been triying "screen" and "softlight" blend modes etc... been turning down the opacity on the layer, but I just don't achieve the soft looking transitions you get in some of your images... any tips or suggestions?

ScottG: hey man, your improving fast... I'm impressed.

Hpx: that kicks so much ass... I've been thinking a lot about "changling" art.... Its one cool advantage of digital. nice job!

Mitsui: your advancing fast! I have REALLY enjoyed your last few images. Good story telling and colors.

Teyekanik: Cool, I want my game back!! hahahah, j/k. That new pic of yours is a big advance in coloring for you... If you want a critique, one thing I see is that your edge awareness is not very realistic and so some areas end up distracting my attention... But I hate giving critiques like that cuz I have'nt figured out the "edge" thing either. I like the motion in the picture and the feeling of action. Mullins has helped me to start looking in the shadows and pulling out more "exposure" information and I think some of your shadows could use a bit more "info". YOu know? I sound like an asshole giving critiques about things I can't do yet. hahahahahahahahah. I dunno, I try, I try...

something to post, trying new things/filters/frustration:

hey everyone. heres a super quick monster type thing. i love doing this kind of stuff. silly simple and fun.

-mon nice man. although i think it could really benefit from just a few more minutes of work some more detail around the eyes perhaps. Oh and nice little landscape.

-inferus- cool idea and composition although i think it falls on the sloppyness of the branches of the trees. it would look so much better if you just had some cleaner strokes and made the trees a little more varied.

retro- i like it!

matthew- looks like your heading in the right direction. the colors and light look good, but i think you pictures could benefit from a little less kaos in the direction of your strokes.

idiran- oh come on not bad for a first attempt!

aphelionart- dont know what it is but that last pic really scares me. but in a good way!

everyone else groovy!

Shagmunky > more pics please ! love the shapes, lines, colors and themes. guess i love about everything about those pics Smile
RasselTassel, spyro, zhalimuto, aphelionart, stephan, mon, drunken_muse, viag > great !
sear > welcome back man.
octavian > i use a lot of morphing (i paint on layers and try to mutate each layer into a new picture by changing small parts here and there) in my latest speedpainting to try to find new shapes and renew my vocabulary. guess the animation thing could be a good reason to use digital instead of traditional also.

Octavian; cool you moved, I'm moving next week.. Thanks for the crit... my biggest flaw is my lack of depth in value so your right on.. By edge awareness do you mean the hardness of the edge? Much like focal depth in photography? If so I see what you mean.... please elaborate. My dependancy on line drawing is aparent but ya, I am grasping colors and the painting techniques... I have opacity jitter on now and it helps me alot. hehe.. give you a call later.. be sure and give me your new phone number...

anyway.. a days work on this dog-face chewbacca wannabe Smile
