Hie everyone!
We (Marco Wilz, Felix Graf, Stephan Stoelting, Ole Bukowsky and myself) from the German Film School are working on a short film called OrkBabies.
Since the short will be about 3minutes I'll not tell much about the
story. It'll be a surprise:)
We have two main characters. They are playing with hobbit and
ork dolls.
Thought to start a wip thread.
Here are some concepts for the characters
and a concept for the environment.
designed by marco wilz
a concept made by myself.
the environment painted by stephan stoelting
based on a sketch of marco.
more to come! |

here is a textured version of the bigger brother.
It's not final at all and the specular
map is still missing. This is only color and bump.
The amor and the belt is not textured yet.
I just put an environment map on it, looks better than a cherckerboard.

Ok I'm working on the rig of the little one!
Here is a progress rendering of the rig.
I'm using a lot of bones to prevent as much of the weights painting as possible.
This is a test without weightspainting.
I'll start with the weightspainting tomorrow. Then I'll have to model
some corrective blendshapes.
Anyways here is a pose test with the actual rig.

Here are the latest renderings of the cave textured and shaded by Stephan.
The props are modeled by Marco and textured by Felix. I didn't do anything
for the cave:(
Anyways, here it is.

The expression on the last Orc baby is perfect! Good work.
Looking at your environment renders I'd say make the bump less obvious. It needs to blend in more with the geometry. Too much bump kills reference of scale, same thing with if no bump maps were used. _________________ http://www.somniostudios.com |

those are amazing! But it seems too bad that you guys made all of these beautiful models for something only 3 minutes long.
I've been practicing with 3-d for a little while and those are astonishing, how long did they take? _________________ I just realised that my screen name is Wagner, but my last name is Wagner, I'm not making any references to anyone. |
