Anyone know of good sites with lots of Dynamic poses of people? I saw in Sumaleths' Link Archive "Sarah Silver Photography" but that doesn't have a whole lot.
I"m finding that two years of boring model poses in Life Drawing classes, I'm have a hard time coming up with some nice dynamic poses.
I don't want to use Comic Books for referance. I'd like to be more familure with the real dynamics of the human body.
Thanks for any of your time/help/links. : ) |

im afraid i havent much to offer for particular reference materials, but i do have some tips on how to draw dynamic poses.
if you have two years of life drawing, you should have a good grasp of the human form. To make the body move dynamically in your drawings, you need to be able to envision the body in as many of the various stages of a given action as possible. For any action, there are one or two points in the flow of motion that will de the most dynamic. you need to isolate those points.
i think this is probably not the answer you wanted, but i think in the long run youd be better off training your brain than to rely too much on reference. obviously, dont abandon reference, i wont say that, just that youll be best served if you can conjure a 3D model in your head and rotating it. easier said than done of course.
if you want, i can scan for you the pages from stan lees How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way that first introduced me to that concept o so long ago.

Almost every book by Burne Hogarth has the word "dynamic" in the title. You want Dynamic Figure Drawing. You should be able to pick up a copy at any Barnes & Noble, off Amazon, pretty much anywhere for around 15 bucks.
Aside from that, start drawing from the sports page of your newspaper (or Sports Illustrated, etc). Athletes in action are a prime example of dynamic posing. _________________ QED, sort of. |

I bought one of these CDs and they really aren't that bad. $10 and he has quite a few pics. There are some sample pics on the website.
No, I'm not Buddy Scalera, just a satisfied customer:) |
