A bristling wind sweeps through the moors. The hound of the fog awakens once again to feast under the full moon.

(it finds poorly rendered humans to be especially palatable)

Glad you like the stadium, thanks! I think I can do those easily from all the matte mileage. Since I am not doing mattes anymore, I do em to keep the hand in it a little. Eyewoo, glad you like the composition. I am happy when someone likes a basic art quality, as opposed to something shiny or real looking.

Allpetter, ??? not sure what you mean...

Here's something I cannot do easily, but I am learning. I still wrestle so much with the oil paint, the technical aspects of it totally affect the art. Painter IS like real media, in the many interacting variables that run you nuts. Oh well, the foot is OK, the rest is crap. I really should rethink doing these, 20 min is not enough time and I can't think about what I am doing, and bad habits are repeated and ingrained. But it is the only time I have to play with the paints, so I do it anyway. Bad excuse.

Nice one spooge ! Right about the feet, it look better. But Why ?? is it because some contrasted colours are well placed ??

Just one question : How do you choose the place to put this red touch on a nude like that. Is it the place where the skin surface "reflect" the skin colour ??

One of a karate serie :

for one, there are places which are naturally a redder shade, such as cheeks/nose, elbows, knees and you-know-what
and then, you are right, there is the phenomenon of light bouncing off skin to hit skin, shich gives quite a saturation boost. to understand what it looks and behaves like, its best to recreate a situation like that and see what happens. Smile

vyle: beautiful gestures. i dig the one with the pole over his shoulders.

good work y'all. thanks for the comments.

Xia - those landscape studies are looking good. I'm not that good with landscapes or environmentals so just listen to what pringle's telling ya cuz its working for ya.

Vyle - nice design/color/brushstrokes/lighting, dope.

stephan - ha, yeah, its photoshop, no fancy layering either. nice castle.

Stewart one - I did have a washed out photo I dl'ed from the net, didn't have a head so I had to make that up. I always try to paint from reference when it comes to figures or else it comes out kinda lame like the one I did today... For skin tones I think Lucian Freud's paintings taught me the most... the way he uses the warm and cools next to each other, and the texture and brushstrokes, eee! craziness... I love seeing his stuff in person when I can find one...

A.pipe - u know it, hug poses are super hard, love klimt's work... good stuff man, keep em up.

Spooge - great like always.

zhalimuto - thanks, you too.

allpeter - nice stair case one, you do the high contrast lighting really well.

Capt.FlushGarden - nice ship n plane n fishbot!

Here she is, creepy kid # 10

Vyle - Awesome sketches, were the darker ones done on computer? The others seem like pen on paper.

Spooge D - Love that widescreen paint, wonderful dull colors.

Capt.FlushGarden - Dearlord, spectacular grey scale images.

See what Illustration teaches me! =\

Selfport, photo-ref (clearly), hour and a half.

Does this demonstrate form? I'm lost when it comes to understanding the term and what it implies. I read about form all the time, but I'm not sure if it's sinking in or not. Is it defining volume and mass with out line?

Omi-kun:
Thank you!
Nice idea on your one!

I've been painting textures for game characters and game levels since I was 15. Which is about 6 years ago.
Before that I barely could draw a circle, even on paper.
beleave me or not. Texture making brought me to what I know today in all mediums.

"digital art"
I did paint a few digital paintings outside my texture-making about 2-3 years ago.
But I didnt really feel that was something for me at the time.

I did lurk around here to watch at all the great work that people are posting. Which gave me huge impressions... A whole lot of envy to! Smile

I did take a long break from art back then because I went stressed out, and didnt paint anything until february this year.
That was two years of absence.
I did manage to make about 1000 game textures during these 2 years though. But i didnt really paint or draw "art" at all.

All in all I've been doing my "stuff" for 6 years.
But I'd like to point out that have been painting digital art for only about 1-2 years all together.

Me and traditionally have been working well together since only a few months ago.
During the time I made game textures, I dind't draw or paint traditionally so much at all.

Weird background I know.
Hopefully my "bg" finally starts to add up some.

I'm heading for a 3 year long education in game design as of today.
I just got the letter telling me "YOUR IN"! Smile

A.pipe:
Nice shading. Me likes very much.

Bishop_Six
Thank you! Smile

Matthew:
You are a huge inspiration, And I truly love your stuff. Very unique imo.

Spooge demon:
That painting is so damn nice!
The digital spooge starts to add up very well on the oil medium.

My little ramble before...
I guess the only thing I really wanted to say is how much I liked the setting. And the mood!
One little knight all by himself on a huge battle arena just had me going emotionally I guess! Smile

ultrahsu Thank you! Smile
Real nice one, your last!

P-Rik
Great picture!

Vyle
Nice sketches!

Keep up the great work you all!

cheers

allpetter: Congrats on your admission! I just got notified today that I got into the first year Chinese class at my university (was on the wait list) so what a coincidence! maybe... I envy your character sketch, there. Even if it's not even half finished, very bold and swift. Yup, there's that envy flowing through my veins again...

Mitsui: sweetness! I like how saturated his face looks.

well here's my attemp at clouds... thanks to google for the 170x128 ref.
