Vyle,Phantom:nice sketchs
ultrahsu:great work as usual, did you use any anatomy reference for this one? for me, painting a "hug" pose is really difficult.

Thanks Malachi, what are you working on these days?
Pigbelly, yes, happy that came through. Rare case where hands got more time than the head
Omikun, Head tilts forward, shading itself. Mistake? Empty stylistic clich? Could be all the above.
Stewart one, I dont use much ref, certainly not in the last one, or this one. If I do use it, you probably would not be able to tell if they were side by side. When I first started painting, I had to use ref more as you are thinking because I had nothing in my head to be able to paint from it.
I have no idea why I did this. I wasted a SP hour on this. Back to hawt chixxx next time

Man thats good spooge. haha, very inspirational. Gives me ideas for my drawing assignment coming up. Thanks!
Though i'd like to say you mystify me sometimes. It's like your paintings have random bursh strokes everywhere, yet they all gel into a cohesive image.. and they even add to the image.
...must keep practising. |

Capt.Flush, please don't delete the post, I believe it was progress in that picture u are doing fine. keep it up.
Difficult to hide when u guys are so kind to me.
allpetter, hehe vi kanske borde snacka mera svenska hr. mnga tack.
Malachi, yea many thanks there.
Gontaro, many thanks.
Spooge, I see you like widescreens aswell, it is awesome if one is able to push the perspective so it looks like one of those widescreens, I think if you have added to the left a bit more u would have got that feeling more, just a thought. I like the feeling in this one.
ok post to say thanks, thanks for all the comments guys.

It really hurts writing this, minding my own huge flaws on the subject.
But Spooge,
I agree with XIA. One has come to read your work differently these days. Mindblowing history...
Flushgarden You own and you know it. Now, we would like you to own us by posting even the simpliest of speedpaintings.
edit:
Tiger1313
That is sooo nice!

As example I put some crap here now (about 10 mins Painter6):
PD I rather dont say anything about Spooge... I think we always going to have the same opinion about his work. Sometimes is beautiful, sometimes even better. Oooppsss I just say it! _________________ In case of supreme necessity use your mind.

I'm sure everything here is amazing but I can't see any of the images because of my 56 k modem. My photoshop is still all messed up, so lately I have only been doing pencil and pen design studies. I just got my cast off today but Doc Oct says it will be another 3 weeks until my finger is fully usable. Fun fun. These paintings were done in artrage. Of course I didn't use references because the values are all wrong and I can't seem to minimize the artrage window so I can have a picture on the side. I'l have to go to my friends house to view everybodies new paintings. I'm sure they are great. Bye

depends on what you're trying to achieve, when it comes to understanding lighting nothing beats analysing, as far as I know. Also, I'm not good enough to draw shapes right without thinking, to draw anything at all(almost) I need to analyse whatever I'm drawings form before I draw it. The more time I take between each brushstroke the better it will be placed.
Flush: thoose weren't that bad, and I you think you're having problems with figures etc, you might get some feedback, which might help you make better paintings. And everyone will still think you're great even if you post some useless crap, WHICH YOU DIDN'T
Chris M.: the colours in the first one are great, not photorealistic, but very very nice
with a tablet this time
