my first real go with acrylics, had a little mess around on a5 canvasboard a couple of times, really speedy stuff, but this is the first real painting with them, 30x40cm canvas, from life, around 6-7hrs over 3 nights, , my son max.
apologies for the shitty photography (aaggh the glare)
bigger version
what do you traditional guys think?, i'm very new to the realstuff, but forcing myself to pick up a brush not made of plastic now and again |

thx , yep, i did hehe, i have very few brushes that i like, most of which i keep for oil, don't want to taint them, so i used a small hog detailbrush throughtout, a little bit with a fine detail sable, i need to find some firm brushes badly (i have 60 or so decent brushes, but they're all soft, doesnt really suit the way i paint, although i will break them in eventually) i know what you mean about the drybrushing thing though, i've kind of carried across what i do digitally, working in really thin layers, scrubbing the paint into the canvas, don't think i'm confident enough yet to slap it on and go wet on wet, but i will be doing more, makes a nice break from the screen, and i agree on the shirt, i kind of forgot about it, will fix before hanging |

spyro, im not gonna bother reposting your image for something like this but...
you wouldn't believe how much better the image looks if you go into photoshop and jack up the contrast, I think you camera washed it out. |
