Since long something from me that's more than a speed painting, although this one started as one, but I got carried away. I had to draw the shape of the creature five times until I finally had something I liked and now I'm glad I did it.

i don't really understand what the picture is about, but it looks nice. the ground is pretty boring, though. |

Not bad! I like the use of such dark green in contrast.
My critic is, the whole picture is high-saturated ... except the black parts there is nothing less saturated. There are no parts where your eye can calm down a bit ... its burning everywhere.

Detailling a speedpainting is nothing but speedpainting in detail. |

Simoom: There is in fact no meaning in it. I know its mean, cos it somehow pretends there is something and one is tempted to try to understand it. Truth is, it was at first supposed to be a speed painting and the initial idea I had was the cross with some small demonic creature lurking behind it. At that point I didn't think about what Im going to do with the rest of the pic. The shape of the creature took me some time and during the process the composition changed a bit.
The feather was the only thing I could come up with to fill the pic (if one can call it "fill"). I could have cropped it as well but I thought the composition is better that way.
It is indeed very empty. I guess that is due to the "time is up" feel in my head that comes from the original speed painting intetion.
Duracel: I knew that it was saturated, but now that you say it I think you are right. Never thought of that. Its really buring your eyes. I guess that is again something one has to think of when comming up with a composition.
Thanks to the two of you for the comments. |
