ax--hv > Safest thing you can possibly do when painting a face.Smile
No, seriously, one of my fav artist was asked how did he manage to get his characters' eyes so good looking. His answer was that he didn't draw eyes, or at least symbolic 'eyes', but instead he draws just some random pudding under his character's brow. It sometimes ends up looking somewhat like an eye. Most of the times it looks like crap when someone else is trying to apply the same idea (the undersigned). But, earnestly, I'm too lazy to paint a proper eyes, this crap I wrote being all just an excuse.

octavian > I had almost an identical idea for one picture.. an ninja doing cartwheel and firing a weapon under his arm.. spooky...

Francis > Fantastic, except for the film grain filter.

Eyes for your sake, ax--hv Very Happy

ax-hv: thanks. I am having so much trouble with my color settings in photoshop its a relief to hear good words.
Freebooter: see, I'm on to you! hahahaha. j/k, that IS spooky. I just doodled it in like 4 min, thats why its so wonky.
Zhalimuto: Holy crap, cool ref! Did you and Zhu go to the same school?

spawn hsi.05. I know Spawn is probably way overdone, but I have so many McFarlane toys, I thought it'd be good practice to light them and draw from a "real" model instead "just" from a photo reference.

Tried to go a bit experimental with color and style, and now I see a lot I could've done a lot better but I'll leave it at that quick bad sketch. any suggestions? Smile

what color profiles are you all using? I'm having a devil of a time getting my web images to look anything like they look in photoshop.

HEY spooge, you used to use a mac, what did or are you currently working in (color profile)? do or did you experience color loss or saturation changes when posting online?

I guess I can't stand the low color gamut in regular rgb profiles so I've been using adobe rgb 1998. maybe this is the issue. I just wish there was a way to use that profile and then convert properly to a srgb profile without destroying my original colors.

for instance, when using my pc to view this image (online), it looks grayish and muddy. while viewing it online with my mac, it looks over saturated and just.... wrong (relative to photoshop).

met some nice people at the conceptart.org workshop. very inspiring. made me want to sketch with real paper and pencils/ball points again.

cap flushgarden > second one me like, maybe the legs are a bit too long for a real top-down perspective though. first one looks too saturated for my taste.
