Hello!
This rough sketch was made a year ago, and I've tried to finish it a couple of times. But the result has been a stiff and lifeless picture... So, if you have any ideas on how to go on with this scetch, I'd very much like to hear them!

I think it's just pose of the fighting character were facing that's too life less.
Stand up and do the pose you want for him, and you'll get a good of feel of how to draw your character. If you have a mirror that's even better. Works for me.
or you could go in for an overhaul and play with the composition, camera angle, perspective etc. chuck some angles and extreme general shapes in there. |

I had a go.
as you can see, mine isn't partiuclarly interesting, especially not with the colour palette and lighting I chose, but I tried to put the characters off balance and add some angles, and some depth.

Thanks for the comments!
The thing I had in mind was that the guy to the left was supposed to be standing still, as if not bothering about the bad guys coming to attack him (since he's such a great swordsman... ) .
Really like your sketch! It has the motion in it that I need! It also made me realize I have to change the background, since the castle is kind of blending in with the sky... and the fog sucks... hmm.. |

Thanks for your comments, Matthew! That was two really great sketches! You had a really good point there; The guy in the front is standing too far down.
And, look at my drawings! of course I need help!
I'm sorry that I haven't replied earlier, but I've been too busy for the past few days. Anyway, please put those pictures back here, I need them! Got to learn how to sketch like that.. |
