Get back in here and do some art.

Come on Flushy, look ahead! I dont know what happened to you but it unpossibly would have been something that would keep you from enjoying the play of color and design!

Look at me instead - Im not able to paint anything that does NOT show my comic background... I just cant "draw" with shapes. I always have to use the brush as a pencil. Whats that trick?!

zhuzhu: Awesome. I'm trying to work out from your screenshot, are you using a different Windows theme? Or are you running Painter on another platform (e.g., linux?)?

Matthew: The Baron Harkonnen is a fictional character from Frank Herbert's DUNE novels.

Atreides House Shield Generators. I'd like to apply for the "most totally whacked perspective in a painting" award... ahem, maybe I'll do more planning beforehand next time.

Dr. Docker, I like the rythm you bring into your figures!

@ Warhead:

The drawing of the pirate is totally screwed up. I ingnored that and tried to concentrate on the coloring - I failed. But it could be worse. I could be this guy:

digitaldecoy, I made a quick overpaint for you and not to show u how to fix the anatomy cause I guess u are better than me with that stuff. Rather I wanted to show u how u could paint with more subtle (calm?) colors to avoid making it look like comic since that what was you asked about, maybe I overdid it in the overpaint.
Also, atmospheric perspective is a perfect way with speedys to give depth quick and the stuff behind doesnt really have to be anything, just add some ropes and stuff and the depth is there. Smile
I hope you are ok with the paintover Daniel otherwise kill me after this text here.

keep it up
Matthew

NeFF, can u please shut up and bang your own head instead. There weren't any discussion about whether comic art should be here or not. I just wanted to show another direction for digitaldecoy.

ceenda, thx for the explanation about baron there, I really like your latest. Smile

Thanks, Matthew! You are so right with your statement, that saturation is the key to my "problem". Look, I have painted another one - a cartoon character but with less saturation (at least where it should not be as saturated):

And I really like how it turned out. The funny thing is, that although the drawing is cartoony the character does not really look comic. Well, perhaps thats only me, who sees it this way. Smile

Thanks for your input, Matthew!
