I think I'm finally finished with this. It's another Snowmist (i.e., my fantasy world) painting. The premise is that the girl, Aneira, and her tiger, Bronwen, have managed to open up a door that leads from the outer planet (which is always winter) to the inner planet (where, in this case, it is spring). Gravity always pulls them toward the planet wall, which way it pulls depends on which side they're on. So these characters should very shortly be flipped in their gravitational orientation and end up on the grass of the Inside. Now I don't know if I like the vertical orientation better -but I do think it is a little more successful in showing the characters falling "inside" the planet. As always, your comments, critiques and suggestions are appreciated. And once again thanks for the helpful critiques in the EK "Training Grounds."

Yes, I agree with the guy on top. Picture has lots of great detail, needs a little more work on the color though.. |

I actually like the colors. They kind of clash, but I think that's nice given the idea of the picture, and the contrast between the seasons. I think the colors you chose make it look extremely vibrant. _________________ -Pigeon |

I thank you for taking the time to replay, but please lay off the color scheme... There is no way I'm changing it because I think it works for the image. Sure you have a right to your own opinions -but being the creator of this image, I'll go with the colors that I like. Does anybody have anything else to say about this painting? _________________

Nice fantasy mood. The color of the figures and portal enhances the dreamy and unreal type of feeling. The girl looks like she belongs into the world where unreal things happen, because she doesn't look very much suprised by breaking thru the portal. She looks like she is used to that sort of things to happen. This gives maybe a bit distant feeling too. What I mean by this is that it puts you into the place of an observer rather than participant in the picture.
I like the picture very much and the colors in it. I guess I always have a weak spot for good fairytale stuff. It has been one of my favorite things to do for as long as I can remember, to daydreaming myself into some other world and see where the imagination leads me. You don't happen to be exercising this kind of escapism too? |
