Since this is an edited photo I can't really say much about the background but the horses and knights seem to fit well within the picture. The rendering is pretty nice and the colors fit. The composition could be pushes a little further but it is still alirght! I like the blurring on the horses legs, pretty cool!

I like this alot actually.. I dont much care if any one uses a photo in a painting.. I think in instances like this it adds a certain flavour to the painting.

Great stuff.

I've seen several book covers that were just collages (and even a lens flare, GAH!) of several models and backgrounds with a drawing here or there. And I have to say that yours there trounces what I saw on the covers.

thanks for the responses

Matte painting! Yeh! I forgot about that. I'm interested in images that have the attributes of reality but that are not real - if that makes any sense!

here's another one - the castle (Bamburgh on the east coast of north England) and sky are real, the wet beach and fog and rider are added it's a bit sketchy but I'm just trying this out and planning to get a better finish eventually.

They look great, nice blend between the photos and the painting.
You should through more painting in there though. Smile Blend some painting into the sky and castle as well.

nice composition, fits in the picture..some people try to combine photos and paintings and it looks terrible. You pulled it of perfectly.
