Hello guys. I thought I could share this one with you. It's a cover I recently did for a game we are working on at the moment.
The charcters (except the monkeys) are based on a extremely popular kids show here in Norway (Captain - Sabretooth) They recently made a cartoon movie and we are doing the game. The cartoon movie has very simple cell shaded characters and we are doing a 3d game, so I had to keep the look and feeling in an inbetween world so to say... Anyway, hope you like it.

Kaptein Sabeltann, huh? Should sell well in Norway for sure!
Some thoughts, the cap'n might do well with a little bluer hues since he's such a pasty faced bugger and the selling point - as it is to me he seems a little faded / weak. Reading the cover I take it the kids will play the central role in the game, though. The sword seems to have depth issues too - maybe have it move forward in space instead? The monkeys are definitely my favourite part - looking very Joachim, I think

Hey Guys, thanks for the feedback.
I thought I could give a couple of answers and post the progress to clear a few things up about this cover.
summer pudding, hehe, thanks. . . well 2-pager I would think not
djorgensen, thanks mr
torstein, Thanks !! I agree with your points, and I would definately do something about it if I could, but I don't dare to touch it anymore, as the owner Formoe and the rest have accepted it Guess you know that I mean.
pringle, thanks !
malachi maloney, thanks ! As always
kimchi, thanks mate.
ANyway, I should have told that this painting is based on realtime characters that are in the game. That's the reason why they look "game'ish". So, here you can see the initial render which I worked from:
And this is the sketch I made as a starter to explain the composition and colors and how I would put it together:
thanks again ! _________________ personal: www.JoachimArt.com

Hi,
Gunna, no problem I wasn't offended. I think what nocturnal might responded to was that you said "you have a future in art!"...which I take as a compliment, though I have made a living out of doing art for 11 years now, and from how I interpret you comment was that you mean I have a potensial future of doing art as a living. ...but I wouldn't be surprised if you meant something different, neither way it was meant as a compliment I guess, so thank you Nocturnal didn't mean anything bad with his response either I'm sure, he probably just pointed out that I allready have art as a profession (?)
nocturnal, thanks for liking my work ! cheers mate ! _________________ personal: www.JoachimArt.com

Nice job man! I agree, you really ought to look into doing this for a living!
I think it's a successful blend of cartoon/animation style and 3D. Are you guys also creating the game? I was under the impression that your studio was strictly an art studio rather than a game developer. _________________ Francis Tsai
