Here's an old sketch of mine that I decided to turn into a digital painting. This is one of my first serious attempts at painting with my new tablet. This character is a variation of the S'pht for an old mod I was working on. C&C greatly appreciated!
BTW for those of you who don't know, the S'pht are from one of my favorite video games, Marathon. http://marathon.bungie.org/
Thanks!

pretty cool. I really like marathon artwork. I do remember the s'phts' cloaks to be a bit larger though, fuller. _________________ www.synestheticstudios.com |

same thoughts as MR. this character, while beautifully redesigned, does not have the same feel as the originals... they had more of a silent darkness to them.
your character, while silent, is more majestic or royal. partly because of the "ploomage" and in part because it does not feel volumous anywere except for the top.
i still like the redesigned head, feels more like the armourd guards that explode into goo (and take you with them if u stand too close - forgot their names) _________________ "You can take my art when you pry it from my frozen, Canadian hands" ~ Me, just now |

Thanks for the comments! I do agree that the cape needs a little more body to it. I was hoping to get more done on this, but homework got in the way. I promise I'll post updates soon.
flx- You're right on target. This variety of S'pht was meant to be a more regal, religious leader-type. However, I don't want to lose the cold and silent feel of the original ones. I think I'll straighten-out the plumage and make the cape look a little more heavy. It's just kinda randomly flapping around right now. ;-P
ddawghurl- I'm not sure if I know exactly what you mean by my brushes being "sharp." I've just been playing around with some of the default PS7 brushes. Maybe I'll make some of my own.
Glad you guys like it! |
