Ok just posting a little piece that I just finished,

I've been using Photoshop in various ways for a pretty long time now, getting better slowly over time.

I drew this in my sketchpad, and since I lack a scanner photographed it with my digital camera, so that I could show a friend on MSN.

Well I ended up putting it into PS, changed the levels n' stuff to make the plain pencil drawing look a little better, but I got a bit carried away, re did the linework with my mouse, and painted the thing,

So here's the final thing:



Also, since I painted and re did the linework directly over the photo I took, hiding various layers creates some interesting images:

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions that people may have.

Ok images aren't showing up, host server is being rebuilt.

Anyway, I think I'll add more to it at some point, but being my first real digital drawing / painting, I think it's a good step foward for me.

Wouldn't mind some suggestions and advice on what to improve and work on though.

hey bill, I wasn�t sure if I wanted to post this picture as an overpaint but maybe this picture can help u anyway. I posted this picture also in the speedy earlier and pud' seemed to like the picture so I thought maybe it can help out a bit, picture is beneath.
To give a picture depth there is some different procedures one can take, u can add atmospheric perspective or divide the picture into foreground, middleground and background. Also, a perspective with a wall or something can be a good way to give the whole thing a depth.
Anyway, in this picture I used overlapping tecnique (foreground, middle and background) with atmospheric perspective which suggests things further away to be more pale in shadows and more same color as the atmosphere further in the back, things closer in the foreground becomes darker in the shadows.
The overlapping is when a hill or something is over and in front of the other, kind of like if you would hold your hand in front of this picture it would overlap the picture and your hand would be in the foreground, a good and a quick way to achieve depth is overlapping hmm anyway I am rambling.

In your picture the castle seem to be as the same length as the tree to the right and also the boat is as the same length as the tree which makes everything to look like miniature. I hope I wasn�t harsch and that you found some of it helpful here.
So remember not really an overpaint this but rather a tip on how to achieve depth.


I think u picked some nice colors and experiments like the ones above is very good.

Yeah, I appreciate your comments Matthew, I've never been very good at perspective and depth in drawings, but it's something I want to improve on.

I'll probably give the same scene another go sometime.
