A digital portrait of my mentor, Sebastian Capella. He is one of the greatest portrait artists to come from Spain. THis is saying a lot when in company of Sorolla, Velasquez, Francisco Domingo and others. I am very fortunate to be under his tutiledge(sp) He is a great painter, has the biggest heart, and shares all he knows about art, which is a heck of a lot more than most any other artist I have studied with. He is amazing.
Thanks for everything.

As usual - awesome work, Ron! Like others here you never cease to amaze and inspire me! Was this done onsite with a laptop or photo ref? _________________ - Tom Carter

I really thought it was a photograph at first. Nice. _________________ Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. |

Beautiful work! I agree on the face, very focused and powerful painting. I'd love to see the same kind of focus on the left hand, it's a bit busy with all the things going on there right now.. maybe rearrange the bookshelf a bit? but hey i probably don't need to tell you that! thanks for sharing this, and congrats on finding a good teacher! I wish I was as fortunate _________________ www.mattiassnygg.com

The painting (particularly the face) just exudes warmth and vibrancy. Nicely balanced with the cool blues and greys in the shadows. I find the background is competing a bit with the the subject for attention, but that's not really a criticism as both are rendered excellently.
Sounds like an awesome guy. |

Lovely portraiture work. Although I agree with Ceenda that the background is overwhelming the figure. Everything is all so bright, I feel the absense of value composition. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

I agree but how do we know that the setting wasn't lit in that fashion?

Thank you for your comments. I had troubles with it once it was printed, but I had no idea what to do at the time other than soften some edges here and there. I need all that stuff in the background, its time though for a reevaluation of what to do with it.
Thank you all again for the comments, and I will post the results here as soon as I can get to the finish of this one.

Wow, great!!!
Even the portraits of our King and Queen at the back is recognizable!
And the Spanish Shield too! Awesome detail!
Yes, check Antonio Lpez, it is a pity he only paints a canvas every three years more or less...but it's worth the wait! _________________ _ _ _____ _ _
