Hi, I'm in the process of writing a research paper for my Engl1102 class and was hoping I could get an 'interview' done to use as a source.
If anyone is willing to answer these questions or even add more to what I asked (just typed up some questions just now for the purpose of this... so I don't know how well i covered what I should cover), I would be very grateful.
Thank you.

What do you think digital art consists of? Can you give a general definition of digital art?
What are the differences that really stand out between traditional art and digital art?
Why are so many people opposed to digital art?
Do you believe digital art will take over more and more traditional art, or do you believe they will coexist?
In your opinion, will digital art become valued the way traditional art is valued?

What do you think digital art consists of? Can you give a general definition of digital art?
Any art that is created through the use of computers.
What are the differences that really stand out between traditional art and digital art?
I think the primary difference is that digital art is created indirectly. You use an input device to influence creation of the art. In some cases, such as when using a graphics tablet, the system very closely aproximates directness, but there is always that slight disconnection between input and result.
Why are so many people opposed to digital art?
Unrestrained persona bias is a big part of art culture for many artists. Also, with the digital art form being so new and easy to try out, we're seeing a lot more examples of bad digital art than great digital art. So the noise:signal ratio is probably poor fo digital art when compared to other media.
Do you believe digital art will take over more and more traditional art, or do you believe they will coexist?
Digital it just another media. It won't take over.
In your opinion, will digital art become valued the way traditional art is valued?
That depends on how you want to define value. If you mean, will great digital art become as liked as great traditional art, I don't see any reason why it can't happen. Why? Because popularity is always about the art, not the medium.
What are the advantages of digital art? The disadvantages?
++ It's easy to do. It's not messy and doesn't take time to set up and pack away. It's easy to experiment, it's a lot of fun, and digital art doesn't degrade over time. And of course: undo.
-- Creation of digital art is indirect and the only hands-on quality is through sterile, plastic input devices (for now at least -- that's something that will almost certainly be addressed in the future).
What got you into digital art? When and how were you introduced to it and what was the appeal?
I got into making computer games back in the early C64 days, and back then if you wanted to code a game you usually had to do the art yourself. Over time I found that I enjoyed making the art more than coding the game and ultimately focused on the art entirely.
I have attempted to get into traditional media on serveral occasions, but the ease of digital art aways brought me back. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |
