when classical music fans met hip-pop or rap, they would think that is junk.when pop music lover met classical music, they would boredom.it is taste. what is good tasty?what is bad tasty?
i love painting something what i think it is pretty.women, pets, landscape and so on.i think painting is direct, natural. i like the simple way, direct way to express.
what is pretty?what is natural? hard to define.maybe someone think shit is pretty, who knows.when people who like judge someone's work here,i should remind something.the speedpainting thread just like a big family, and i really like this place.but speedpainting thread is not a big menu, that you can ask and order something.
why not people ask spooge,hi man,too much matt paintings.could you show us some very detailing works?why not people ask Mr.Swarm, hey, too much female portrait, why something new? opps, i have forgot that guy hate painting a lot of things,or can't painting?
when someone told me: hey, zhu, stop the stupidity practice,It doesn't seem to have much meaning. why not show us something different? my answer is: i enjoy my way.i post here is not to show or pleased someone.
painting just like people,it is really depend on tasty or hobby.if i have bad tasty or bad hobby. it is my way.i don't want quarrel with someone. i just say my point. _________________ I am the king of the world! hahaha^-^

hmmmn...amazing how a once happy friendly thread can go ugly.
It is a Speedpainting thread, so I wouldn't think that only breakthrough pieces would apply, otherwise there'd be four posts a year. I tend to do hundreds of drawings/paintings before I get one that I'm even partially happy with. To each his own though I guess.
I think if you truly look back at Matthews work, or ZhuZhu's work and Swarm's work, you will see changes in them. In fact, amazing changes. All of them have grown insanely , as have most of the other people on here(well cept' me ).
Beyond that, I look forward to ZhuZhu's pieces. I think lots of people do. And Swarm's one of my fav artist on here. Matthew is the heart and soul of this site, he never gave up and is doing great work now. So I hope they keep posting.
I'm not trying to cause problems, I just want happy Sijun, I liked it better.

i think someone should see these photos.it's real! just yesterday i have saw it on street and shot it..the man who lost his hands, and never learn drawing before.but he can painting portrait sketch very well.he told me he have painting over 900 pieces last two years!
what is good drawing? maybe that poor guy's painting is nothing,or can't call it was art.but in his eyes, painting is his whole life! that's the point.

more of a speed-partially-colored-sketch-session than a regular painting, but it's the closest thing I've done lately. windmill concepts for a comic project:

uh, happy good friday or something similar...
Inspired by all those neat illustrated bible pics I saw as a kid. Some of them were really nice. But I get tired of the Teutonic Jesus types. Is that a severed head for sale on the left? And a really tall Yoda too.

Darn nice pictures people. Spooges latest is heart warming. And Swarms is just as nice as allways.
Heres one quite quicky. few refs used.

Thanks Pud'! Always a pleasure to see your imagination at work.
Some good stuff going on there Matthew.
M.C. Barret, nice concepts. My favourite is the beige/orange one in lower right.
Let's go apeshit!

Rhomb and uglypixel: thanks a million.
Sorry to double post.
Guess who.
Trying to follow Swarm's excellent example on the self portrait thread. 2 hours in front of a mirror.

spooge: sorry to lower the tone after your wonderful bible scene. Here's some more Roman Cthulhu worshipers. The round things on the floor are supposed to be gold seals, or puddles of maple syrup. Can't decide which.
matthew: if I'm not keen on something you've done, I don't comment.
crits and overpaints welcome.
