Part of a "redo project" ... I'm turning sketches into digital paintings.
Maybe somebody remembers this?

Here's the WIP version of the new painting.

C&C are maybe appreciated Wink
Don't know what my mood will be like the next few days.

Seems like you have improved Andy! Well done Very Happy
I think this is one of your best pics so far.

Some of the shapes are still abit blurry.
You can eighter use the sharpen filter or brushes with more hardness.

Colors , composition and mood are quite interesting. I like it!
Keep it up!

Yeah thanks.

I think I'll try to define the forms better and add texture on the teddy.
And use sharper edges to separate teddy from shadow and shadow from wall.
The table lamp is supposed to look blurry a little.
As if only the teddy is "in focus".

Btw ... I want to see more of your images. It always sounds as if you draw/paint all the time.
I'm hoping there will be a huge dump in the near future!

Don't let me down! Wink

[edit]
I made some changes. Better?
And should I put a painting where the placeholder is?
Or does it look too busy like that?
[/edit]

Great! Much better Andy.
I'm not sure about that painting on the wall. It could keep the viewer away from the teddy. But you might just try it out on a different layer and experiment abit.
It's kind of empty on the right side, you could also add a shadow of the lamp itself on the wall. You would need a second lightsource of course...just an idea, but,....actually,.. I think it's quite good as it is now.

Redoes are really interesting. I do those also sometimes.
Well, yeah, I paint and especially draw ALOT (still not enought thought...). You're right, I should post more. But the quality of this board (speedpaintingthread) is just too good for me...I think..it's depressing
Let's see what I can do... Very Happy

You are right ... the painting is distracting.
I tried something ... But I'm not sure if I should keep it.
Not really inventive. Probably too much of a clich.

I think I'll go on to the next painting and get back to this.
Maybe then there will be some more replies here or on other boards.
If not then maybe I'll see it in a new light.

Thanks for your input.

I think your speedpaintings are inspiring for many others.
Don't hold back because of the non-human ber-artists ...
I know I should ... but not you!

Thanks. Your opinions mean a lot to me.

The subject is not that hard though. Guess I'll struggle more with the next one.

This is the old version:

I made some small changes to the teddy.
Cleaned some things up a little and changed the desk lamp slightly.
Somebody wrote it looks like a gun. So I changed the part where it "meets" the border.

I guess I won't start a thread in the Gallery.
So here is the finished version.
[edit]NO! Images removed ... final version in last post now.[/edit]

Andy, this is a fairly big improvement over what you've done before. It looks much better than what I've seen you doing lately. My only crit is, I feel, really important, and applies to every piece that you do. SATURATION! You need it so badly.

I took this into PS, opened the color picker and randomly clicked all over the image. The colors were always on the left side of the picker, only about 1/3 of the way to complete saturation, if that. While it's certainly ok to do that on purpose, I think that you just don't have a good grasp of saturation yet. You seem to be a bit scared of throwing down some color. You really need to get over that! How about concentrating on oversaturating your next few pics? I think once you see what a bit of color can do for you you'll be more likely to use a bit more.

Overall, good work. Keep it up.

You are right.

That's probably what makes it look a little sterile and lifeless.
I posted a spoof saturation version in the last post ... that it is easier to compare.
Quick and dirty obviously

I often use desaturated colors on purpose.
But in this image it is the best way to bring the teddy out more I guess.

I think I'll get back to this image and actually work on colors and saturation.
But I can't work more on it right now.

Thanks Drew

[edit]
REAL!! final version?
