These are busy days. After half a year of almost neglecting painting and drawing totally, due to the pressure laid upon me by my university studies, I've now after a giant load of exams had two free days, two days to rest, and take a deep breath before the next period starts with new courses, and these two days Ive dedicated to the art.
So heres a little collection of what Ive gotten done in the few hours spent painting these last months, and the last two days.
First off, Ive done this completely in the last two days. No refs for the figure, which obviously shows, but I did use some refs for the birds. And thank you again Linda (Enayla that is) for the brushes, I said it over at EK, and I say it again here. Hope you didnt mind me using them.
This is something Ive been working on in the studying breaks for a few months. 15-20 minutes here and there.
And an older one. I completed this in November, but had been working on it for several months back then. Its quite an emotional piece. Heres what I wrote about it for my webpage:
A flooded and deserted village, left to the forces of nature by all the inhabitants, all but one. Because this place still holds the memories of old days, the joy is not all gone from the old logs of the broken buildings. There are some who won't let go from that which they hold dear, wont leave though they should. Even if it means their doom.
Ive probably lost much in skill in all this art-free time. Id be glad to hear what you people have to say about these pieces anyway. |

had you used a figure reference for the first one, it would be the best of the three.
I like the third one most however.
good stuff |

Thanks people!
And, well, Awetopsy. I agree that it should have been better with reference, but I didn't feel like making it a giant project with huge ambitions and loads of reference. I've had to much bad experiences with that kind of stuff. They get to big and I never seem to finish them. I just wanted that one to be quick and easy, and I wanted to test my anatomy skills, since I know they are not what they should be... |

Your work has a beautifully dream-like character to it (I was going to mention that in the speedpainting thread). I think a little more practice in areas like proportion and depth and form is perhaps recommended. Otherwise, these really are beautiful. Your colour choices are very nice in the last one. |
