Weekly Drawing - Discussion Thread

As I said in the main thread I was gonna post a discussion thread too so here it is.
I was thinking, maybe I could make a new thread every week or maybe post in the same thread every week? what do u guys think?
If a new thread is to be made everyone has to agree to not post any further in the old one.

ok any feedback u can put in here and if anyone of you has any ideas what we should do in the future threads I am very eager to here them here.

I hope u guys like the idea, if you dont let me know.

see you
Matthew

This weeks topic is by the way - Draw what u want.
So u guys can draw what u want. I thought it was better to start out small.

Also is just came to my mind, will it work with the traditional pencil instead of digital? I was thinking it is a bit more fun to do something with pencil since we are seeing so much digital work already in the speedy.

let me know what u think guys. Smile

Hi,

Think it's a good idea, Matthew ...

Just a question : is it only speed drawings, or everything we want from sketch to finshed work in pencil?

hey MadMartigan thanks for the feedback, not sure though if it is that of a good idea though and I dont wanna keep the thread all by myself either.

Anything from sketch to finished works will work, the thought was that we could focus on different things every week with different topics.
Maybe I will do one more thread but as it seems now these kind of weekly activities doesnt seem to work.

thanks again for the reply MadMartigan. Smile
see you

Hey Matthew,

I think the weekly drawing thread is a great idea.

I would post some of my work, but unfortunatley my hosting doesn't allow me to link images. But at the end of April when I'm out of university, I'll get some better hosting.

Though it actually seems weird to me why no one has really replied. Confused

Hey All,

DJorgensen, if your hosting doesn't allow images try http://www.photobucket.com they provide free image hosting. They give you something like 250MB of space.

I dont necessitate these kind of things so therefore I am shutting weekly drawing down, I am not bitter in any way and at least I made a try with it which I felt I had to do.
Thanks everyone who joined. Smile

it was a nice idea and i liked it --- why'd you close it down?

there are daily sketch group type things on other forums... that often get lots of sketches... but i don't know.

The thing is that it is very low participation and it was the same with Draw club way back. I guess if I continued with it it would be me bumping the thread everyday.
Anyway we always have the themed threads, those can be difficult to and I remember in the beginning with my old robot thread which I had to bump in the beginning to make it work but it did work in the end. Smile

thanks for the feedback fae. Smile

Mathew, I still think its a good idea.
I could just make it a "sticky thread" therefore ppl will see it and if they are interested they can contribute. If participation is low it wouldn't really matter that much.

Freddio, this is a great idea and to make it Sticky would be super. Smile
I made a new thread with weekly drawing week 16 which we could make sticky.
Can we do this every week then or did you mean one sticky thread being up all the time?

thanks again guys and thanks for the feedback, this weeks weekly is for you Freddio and fae above.

have a nice day

I think any good theme thread needs time to gain momentum, a week just isn't long enough for a large group of people to get involved.

I have been given feedback about whether weekly drawing should be one or two weeks. I think we should have one week but that is just my opinion and I am all for democracy so I think it would be fair to have a voting about it. If more than 20 members want this weekly drawing to be two weeks I have decided to go along with that.
So, let me hear what u guys think and post a comment and vote for 2 weeks or one week and we will take it from there.
thanks everyone.

vote for 2 weeks!

i know i dont post much, but i really enjoy vieing the speed, life drawing, and weekly threads.. they all have very different qualities, and i enjoy the weekly because so many interpretation of a similar theme seems very inspirational, i hav started a few from previous weeks but the weeks seem to pass before i even hav a chance to finish sometimes!

Personally I've wanted to join in on some of these weekly projects, but so often I don't get started on it until late in the week, and do not have anything finished by when it is due.

If you make it two weeks for a topic however, I have to agree that it will move much too slowly, and I fear interest will diminish.

The only other option that I could suggest is to post the 'general' subject for the next week's project so that we may have some inkling of what to expect. No need of anything specific - like you could have said "relating to motorcycles". Just enough to get the creative juices flowing early.

And sorry, I have no vote here. I feel that it could go either way and I would still probably be satisified.

DJorgensen, yea this is what I have feared too. Posting topics for two weeks and with getting a low participation and that would be very discouraging, with one week it doesnt matter that much and then I can always try to make a better one the week after.

But as I said in this weeks weekly drawing, maybe I can turn popular threads into themes instead or if anyone of you guys wanna do it it is ok with me. Let's say we have "biker girls" like we had this week in the weekly and when one week has passed we can either turn that thread into a theme or make a new one called biker girls. And, guys interested in the theme would have as much time as they want in that themed thread.

thanks again for feedback here guys, let me hear more feedback. Smile

I am (it's a pity) just a viewer of these threads at the moment so my vote doesn't cout much Smile
I'd say, if people like the topic and post images fluently make it two weeks or even longer. Otherwise, if there's no trafic at all - go for one week.
Make it depanding on traffic, posted pictues, just if people like or dislike a weeks topic...that kind of stuff. well, you know.

voting is over and thanks for your views everyone, weekly drawing will continue with one week. I kind of liked the idea with putting popular weekly topics into themes so that I will continue with, considering there will be anymore popular topics that is.

Weekly 23 is up, now go hunt some dinosaurs u pirates. Very Happy
