Hi everyone,
Few things have changed in my life lately and I started pine after fairy life of my childhood. Specialy after dreams. I started with this piece about 2 weeks ago but didnt have time to sit on it day by day. I wanted this picture to express the dreams, not those I had, but dreams itself.
Forgive my English mistakes here on this post. I hope you will like the picture and any critiques about it are very welcome here
Cheers

stunning, has an odd sense of perspective, but it kind of drags you into the image rather than look wrong, and given the subject matter it works well (it's the kid, the knoll/hill he's standing on looks to be right in the foreground, in front of the tree to the left rather than 8 feet behind) it could be fixed with thicker, taller grass in the foreground areas but i'd probably leave it as is, nice stuff man |

Thanks everyone.
Spyrotechink: maybe Ur right with that. Also the cclouds at the top of picture could be seen more upwards (that would give deeper perspective).
With the picture I tried to get open space from forest doors. As a child I dreamed lot about freedom, beeing able to reach things that are impossible and get to the places that nobody else could see. Thats why I set the beanstalk city at the center of the picture, that reaches the clouds and open air, the symbol of unreachable freedom for me. _________________ You must click here |

Wow matt, awesome work.. the only thing that annoys me is the four top shapes of the tower, they don't seem as neatly rendered as the rest of the pic, or maybe it's their shape thats a little off. Rest of the pic is gorgeous |

Actually I saw this on GFXartist a few days ago. I love it. It seems so dreamlike and nostalgic. I was wondering how you go about painting foliage... Do you use any custom brushes? If you do what sorts have you made and how to you go about using them? If you don't, what is your basic approach to creating leaves and such? You are obviously quite skilled at it either way. I'd appreciate any info you would be kind enough to divulge. =) _________________

I used standard brushes with customizing them in some parts of the picture. Mainly I used typical round brush. For the background of leaves (to sketch the shapes) and grass I used leaf/grass brush, then with round one first with scatering - the leaves, then normal round for grass. I aslo played with opacity stuff there as well. Thats for short in technical stuff, didnt do anything special with that I will try to do some tutorial later on to show exactly how to do it. _________________ You must click here |

Round with scattering for the basic leaf masses? Hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the info and I eagerly await your tutorial. =) _________________

This is first rate work tiger. The subject matter isn't really to my taste, but the execution and attention to detail are flawless.
