ax--hv: that's lovely. Great palette, composition and subject matter.
geki: wow! thanks man!
spooge: have you ever considered creating a Gnomon style DVD? You could retire overnight on the profits!

here's another beast from Greek mythology. I tried with every fibre in my being to avoid the AD&D cover art palette. Sorry.

45 mins into a self-portrait for my Mom... Embarassed *cringe*

And no, my eyebrows aren't that NYAAAARGH! I'm just tired and making too many painting errors.

From Ref. 30mins.

Can someone give some tips on what to look for when painting from photo ref? Especially when speedpainting. What is it I can learn from photos?

Stephen: look at the reference more often than you do your painting. Notice every blotch of different value or hue or saturation. That's how I think when I pick a color. Use many colors, to get the life like ness of the picture. And squint your eye at the picture and your painting often, see what's wrong (like your whole painting is too yellow or blue or wtf) and change as you see fit. Rinse, and repeat, ad nauseum.
edit> just saw your picture (im on dial up so I didn't see it at first) wow, I would like to withdraw my comment under the reason of incompetence. gj dude.
