Hi everyone!

...first post, and first proper 2d photoshop project, excluding all the failed experiments I have done so far (too embarassing to show). Wink

A little helicopter in progress:

And here's the 3d reference I did to help me with the perspective...

I have an actual model here so I'm not doing this from imagination. Perfect for learning.

I'm actually a 3d only person, with a bit of experience in retouching and layouting stuff in Photoshop but that's about it! So I'm thinking it's time for me to finally get into 2d as well. Actually I had intended to make it more like a painting but it looks like it's going to be 3d-ish looking, I guess I'm too attached to the 3d world, hmm........ Wink

I'll post an update soon.

Janine

hi janine,

my first question would be, why would you want the pic look 'like a painting'?
keeping in mind that you are more a 3d person, i would suggest you go for 3d all the way. it would benefit the result of your piece, because then you could focus all your efforts into 3d, instead of a scattered focus across different known and unknown techniques.

photoshop can be used to great extent in texturing. you'd be amazed.

cheers!

hehe, I know. Wink I could probably do the helicopter in 3d within a few hours. I've been doing 3d for years. But I want to be able to create images without 3d, that's the point. Because it'll open up more oportunities job wise in the future. It's all about money afterall. Wink I guess maybe this helicopter isn't the best object for a 'painting', might do a landscape next time. Anyway, I'll just keep going with the helicopter and see what I end up with.
