Great work everyone.

Thanks Very Happy
DougBot>> Great work!!! Keep it up buddy!

Capt Fred>> I totally agree on the comment. I think because I have no hesitation on the strokes I put back there. But when it comes to foreground, I become hesitated and indecisive. Good thinking.

SPOOGE DEMON>> I thought I would repeat myself. DO you know where can I find out about YOUR LECTURE session in CHICAGO? I try to find out about it everywhere but no luck so far.... Embarassed

Another quick Comp/lighting cribble study:

XIA> Hey, that looks really good! My favorite of yours so far!

I think it's really hard to simplify stuff but keep it interesting at the same time, I usually go towards the boring "nothing to look at" result which I try to hide with ugly textures. I think Fred and you are doing a good job, keep it up!

Damn you're fast, both Fred and Wassup posted while I was writing... well

Wassup> It's not that bad, though I have to admit I spend most of the time just drooling, not looking at design aspects Very Happy

Elliot, i dig the space-ship one

Wasssup, your phenomenal realistic shapes and values make the viewer to believe in the design.
But if you wanne force yourself to think about the logic behind, paint less loose speedies. (and well, everybody here would like to see some fine art of yours! Wink)

inspired by Randis (last page):

the thing with oil is that there is no way to work quick with it and get a good result. Me read a book about oils and that artist divided the oil painting into three parts and that was background, between-ground and fore-ground and I guess there has to be drying in between unless u work up a quick sketch and do the divided parts afterwards but the drying has to be there anyway me thinks. I have experiment a lot with this in school and quick sketches is almost impossible cause when one keeps adding it gets darker and more fussy as u said spooge. Pallette knife is pretty good to get texture.
Rembrandt used a sharp brush when he painted to get that draw feeling and he also added some sort of yellow brown varnish when the painting was finished hence why those paintings looks warmer and nicer mmm. Smile
According to my teacher Rembrandt used white for his light and when that varnish was added it took the warmer value into the light.
Anyway I am rambling as usual.

Sukhoi, many thanks for your kind words there many thanks. Smile me misses Bg too and he has helped me a lot, also chiani has also been away for very long. btw Sukhoi u can send me some of your pictures and I can host them for u if you want to post something. Smile

an experiment, ink marker & photoshop

A hot-hatch concept; not quite speedy as it was interpsersed around lunch and coffee, but then again, maybe it is speedy... bad pun, sorry

A digital comp for an oil

All of these are dorking around in painter, trying to learn how to use the program. 3 of them were class demonstrations...

This thread is the best thing on the web...

Spooge-I cannot get enough of your work, thank you for sharing so much--what goes on in the Mullins mind when you digital paint? That is, when you have an idea, or not, do you have a desired effect to begin the art? I mean, do you have an underlay that would suit this or that image for the ground to start the piece, or is the entire painting an "off the cuff" adventure? And at this point, is it the illustrator in you that creates a sensibility to control the image? I have been painting more digitally, and I have found a greater freedom from anything, including a linear start which I have yet to use lately. None of these had line art to start. They all began with a photograph ground or color ground, colors mushed together until a balance revealed itself.

I was just curious as to what you maybe were looking for when you digi-paint.

Swarm, your women rock...

Zen, Zhuzhu, Matthew, Digital Decoy, Duracel, M C Barret, Ceenda, Socar, Pierre, wassup, xi, and many more, you guys are a HUGE inspiration to me and my digital classes. Thank you for pioneering the 21st century in art...

I wasn't going to post this one--it didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted--but the sad weed seemed to depress a bunch of folks on other sites, so here's the end of the story:

The sad weed got uprooted one day, torn from his cozy rock in the sun by a hungry dog. That dog carried him across the road, over the fence, past crabby ol' Mrs. Hislop's house, and into the park. As Mr. Dog passed beneath the dappled shadow of a venerable oak, a dandelion puff invaded his nose, and he fell to sneezing. The weed, released with some force, sailed through the air. He soared over the saplings and scrub-brush and Indian-pipes, and flopped sadly down on the riverbank, battered and bruised. He lay among the flowers and grasses, long roots drying in the sun. He died with a smile on his weedy little face, gazing into the fragrant faces of the daisies for the first time in his life.

Seasons came and went. The sad weed decomposed. His seeds went into the earth, and were covered by dead leaves in autumn. In winter, a blanket of snow descended on the snoozing seeds. One day, winter passed on and a merry spring breeze blew overhead, carrying the scent of crocuses on its breath. That cheerful scent awoke a seed, which sprouted and grew, wrapping friendly roots round the grasses and daisies.

A weed never really dies, see. You can yank it or snip it or dig it up, but you'll always miss a seed, from which that weed can grow back.

The End

(Just as a side-note, these drawings aren't digital. I know this is the digital art forum, but I don't do as much digital work as I used to, and pretty much no digital sketches, so, yeah.)
