Nice drawing. All that expression for a gumball? jk I'd like to see it colored. It looks like he's hypnotizing someone "The elf is your friend, the elf is superior, give all your money to the elf" heh. My only crit is the mummy wrapped wrist, it's too thin.

Yes it does seem a little thin, and it's leather wrapped.

His left arm seems a bit too large entirely.. it's farther extended, yet the elbow drops lower (doubly confusing since it's farter away), also the bicep and shoulder all feels too large. I think this is what is contributing to making that forearm seem to slender.

TremorX, note the clavicle-line which to me seems to hint that the shoulder is thrust forward. It looks strange but if you measure the arms from the point where the clavicle joins the shoulders, they seem to match just fine.

Ahh, I think I see what you mean. The first thing that caught my eye was "wow, that's a long arm" .. shading and defining that area would probably help a lot.

Used Hue/Saturation to add some color.

After much painting and some more work with the wall texture.

I may add the tattoos, but I'm ready to move on to something else.
I think I will title this piece Summon Light

Here is a link to a hi rez version if anyone cares to see it.

the only thing that i question is the finger -looking shadow on his left arm....im not sure how its being cast, or if its being cast correctly or whatever...however since this pretty much kicks the ass of anything ive ever done, um, nice work

I stood in the mirror a long while with the desk lamp pointed at me, and that shadow was there. Thanks for your reply though.

is it a good idea to shade with black and white first like you did? this is not a crit, its a question. It looks very nice indeed. the wall texture and atmosphere it makes doesnt really match the elf theme imo. but thats just me Laughing

Working on grayscale? Lots of pros are doing that way nowadays. Many good artists told me...as long as u get the job done the way you want it to come out then...it doesn't really matter how u do it. If your tool allow u to get what you want, then it's good, right. The question is really what is it that you want for your own arsenal. It's only up to u to either expand or limit yourself to any method.

Even in before the digital age, grayscale study has been an important key to many great painters (if not all) before they start painting on the any big project. So in digital ages...we can skip many of those steps to make the progress go faster. So I don't really see anything wrong with the method.

Looking good by the way, I really dig it.

I love it... just his mouth, or the seeming lack thereof sort of irritates me on this one.
