luna: if only it were possible... I think an alien attack would work wonders for the human society as a whole... for a while...

then we'd all start fecking with each other again... it's human nature... if it's different - kill it... if it's not your - take it... if you've killed everything and taken everything - turn on yourselves...

I'd say we're fecked =)

In the vastness of space, within unthinkable number of galaxies holding immense numbers of stars and solor systems there is a planet where a tiny little organism declares his 'country' is better then anyone elses...

Somewhere, a galactic cricket chirps.

Yes we have a lot of people and a lot of land, but the sheer distance between these people breeds a diversity in the culture.
Proportions are irrelavent.

*You* are judging my culture. You're Swedish. That makes you biased. Judging sophistication if like judging art. There are no absolutes. You are displaying the arrogance that so many attribute to Americans. Amazing.

But for the record, there is no doubt, IMO, that American popular culture has bottomed out. But America has and has always had a thriving subculture. This culture produced:

rap
techno
computers
rock 'n' roll
comics
jazz
blues
internet
frisbee!

and a host of other things that I love.

If these are less 'sophisticated' in the stuffy, classical European sense, then so be it. But I would bet that *you* enjoy those things as well. Can you imagine a world without America and the ideas she has produced? The good far outweigh the bad, IMO.

And yes, of course I can say the same.
In the Detroit area, where I live, I can sample a number of Indian, Arab, Mexican, Vietnamese, Thai, German, British, Ethiopian and countless other foods.
There are a number of theatres which only show foreign films. America is a movie behemoth, so naturally, most theatres show mostly American films. And there are a number of very good ones.
The variety of things to experience in most American cities is astonishing.

Actually, I think Canadians without the French would still be Canadians, just without all the French Candadians running around *trying* to lead our country.

Emphasis on "trying".

Hey Rat, you're really a rat.

Comment pourriez-vous dcrire un peuple minoritaire, entour de 300 millions d'anglophones comme tant les mchants qui veulent vous asservir?

Oh, don't bother. You must be really unpoliticized and uncultured to have written that.

Look, Everywhere has shitty people...Take Roundeye, for example. You can always look at the bad people in a country, assume everyone is that way, and be an asshole about it...which makes you just as bad as the people you're hating. Or you can be quiet, do your little dance - whatever it may be - to make your little money and get on with your stupid pointless existance. You're no different than anyone else here. Since when have Canadians possessed more chromosomes than I?

hehe... I think its kinda funny that someone mentioned mexican food as a good quality of the us.

And I'd just like to say I agree 100% with what Blitz said. That's what I'm adding to the list.

Good thing about the US-

FelixL - Sorry, I was being a bitch. Sometimes I say things without thinking about it first.

It's just the state Canada's in now (not great), and the fact that I see a lot of French Canadians running things in Ottawa. Some of my better friends or their parents are French Canadians.

The only reason BC's in such a bad way is because of a series of...uh..."non" French Canadians (for lack of a better word) is/has been in control, so I can't really talk.

I guess the best liars make the best politicians, doesn't matter what language they speak .

But jumping onto the ban-wagon..
Having the ability to blow up the world 7 times doesn't really mean that you have the right to call yourself the 'top dog'.

Heres a few more things to add to your list of american things:
-Slavery
-Destroying of smaller countries
-Several week long elections
-Racial discrimination
-Arrogance
-Treatment of imigrants
-Imperial measurement.. of all measurements to use..
-Britany Spears
-Guzzling of natural resources, a lot of them Canadian
-Destroying the avro arrow because it was more powerful then the american's... come on! I like that plane!

I'm interested about knowing how many american's are educated about the war of 1812? How many do know about it, when I used to live in the US you would never learn or hear about it..

This is SO stupid!! first Canada it's not that great, but it has many good things and french canadian girl are among the most beautiful I've seen in the world. America, for your information, is a CONTINENT like EUROPE. If you talk about the UNITED STATES you just can't generalize, that would be just stupid, US is a contry that throuout its history has been build on other cultures people. You name it: English, Spanish (from SPAIN ), Irish, German, Italian (what you thought pasta is american?), Africans, Latin American. I won't name every single contribution, I guess I don't have to. It's as simple as this: Imagine there is a new big place full of inocent people that can be killed and cheated easily, a big place, so many (more that you think) people move to this new place and start imposing their own way of living, good things and bad things. These people start fighting for the best spots, weak loose, strong win, You guessed it, that place is AMERICA (the continent) Geografically North America is more accesible and the people that conquered also made "better" use of the land, Canada has that little population for a simple reason: Because there is not that much habitable espace. Mexico, well, US "took" some of the best from this country, specially(no, not tacos) CALIFORNIA. Take New York City, waht is so good about this place? I think New York and don't think US. You can figure out why. Ireland, England, Spain, France, Africa, gave AMERICA the best and the worst from their cultures, the average american (from the US) doesn't exist, they are all German desendant or jewish or english, you name it. This country is so big and so many good and bad stuff has came of this piece of land becuase it's like a little representation of the world itself.

Latin America its so fucked up because it was conquered mostly by one culture: Spanish, and sorry to any spanish but Spain sucks big time, no values, no nothing was left in america by this people, they just made Latin America poor.

So now that I made clear that theres is no point in this dicussion I hope you stop typing stupid comments now, and fockin get back to painting"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

or I will kick you ass!!! wherever that ass came from!!!

Coaster - I personally prefer Imperial measurement to metric. It's spelled Britney, not Britany .

The only thing that'll get rid of the world's problems is to get rid of the human race. I say to everyone (including myself): Unless you're the one person who can actually solve all the world's problems, quit complaining about things you can never change. If you can't do that, it's your problem.

If you really think about it, NEIGHBORS that live within yards to each other talk shit about each other.

*sigh*

It's human nature. Let's jut try to suppress the negative aspects of our human traits and push the positive parts forward.

Slavery- We didn't start that.
Destroying countries- Didn't start that either.
Elections-...I'll give you that one.
Racial Discrimination- How about religious descrimination in the rest of the world. Catholics and Protestants in Ireland, Israelis and Palestinians, and let me think...THE NAZIS!?!
Arogance- Been around forever.
Immigrants- Everyone's an immigrant.
Measurement- Women would rather wear a size 6 shoe than a size 33.
Britney Spears- It's less about listening to her than it is about jacking off to her.
Natural resources- If we stopped helping out other countries, more peope would be dead and the world wouldn't be so overcrowded, thus resources wouldn't be depleted so quickly. Let everybody fend for themselves, I say.
Avro- Have no idea about the plane.

Don't forget about these things from around the world:

-Leprecy
-The Plague
-The Spice Girls
-Mad Cow Disease
-Hitler, Osama, Stalin, The Teletubbies, Castro, and any other person you can think of.

We need fewer people on ths planet. Didn't we recently pass the 6 billion mark?

Why are you guys still talking about this?? If you don't like the US, don't go there. If you don't like Canada, don't go there.

Hell, there isn't really any such thing as a country anyway, it's all just lines some shmuck drew on a map! Who gives a fuck?

People are people, everywhere you go, and there will always be good people and bad people, everywhwere you go. Does it really matter where they came from, what language they speak or what political system they happened to be born into? I mean, come on, nobody chooses what kind of government they'll have today, and everyone is taught that their government is the greatest in the world. EVERYONE.

Arguing about it won't change anything, so let's just go back to being our nice little anonymous selves from nowhere and make some goddam art! Whadaya say?

Hey your right hamster you should not stereo type from just one guy on the internet.. but what about all the other canadian pricks on the net ( 99.999%) who go on and on about great there country is and how bad america is ...on the internet ..that we invented i'll interject yet again

Personally I could give a rats ass, but when you have people like Roundeye who are obviously so intimidated by Americans that he has to spout out on ART message boards then I have to say something . Hey roundeye why don't you go to a Mexican mesage boards and tell them how much there country sucks also since you seem to think Canada is the center of the universe and as absolutly nothing wrong with it in anyway.
