Well I sort of am using ref; I look at images and have done a lot of figure drawing.I kinda wish you'd be more specific about what is wrong with this. I did see a problem with her leg in that the foot was not turned right for her posture, and I narrowed her shoulders somewhat. Thi biggest hurdle for me is that i don't have many pics of a woman wearing a drapey costume so it's really hard to place the folds and creases in her gown.
Well I'm changing a few things on this and I'll post an update later.
Thanks for the input. |

Here is some progress. However, I have decided I do not like the head scarf thingie so I am making a whole new head covering... I'll post more later. |

I liked the face on the old one. The left eye on the revised version is bothering me for some reason. Leave the headwear! I think it's gorgeous the way it is. |

Thanks, yeah I agree about the face so I redid it yet again... still not exactly like the first but different from the second. I am going back and forth on this headgear thing tho... I kinda like it and I kinda don't... hmmm... anyway here are 2 more versions of it, one with the headwear and one without:
Since I'm not really using layers I need to make a decision about this before I start working in the architectural details. (I don't use layers because I like having the paint "bleed" into edges somewhat... and I'm using a very traditional oil paint technique. I should also mention that this is done in Painter 7. ) |

There is something about the new headdress that doesn't comply with the rest of her attire. It has an Arabian feel to it. I don't know. Personally, from the two revised versions you posted, I'm liking the one with the free falling hair better. Good luck. You're doing a great job. |
