Is there a way to see the middle of this thread other than page by page one at a time?
...and if I wanted to post, roughly at what time limit point would I not be speed painting? |

hey blehblehbleh,
if you think that custombrushes make the whole thing such easy, why don't you use them to prove it to us? |
Why do I need to prove you this? I am the consumer, you are the producer. I sure as hell would never ask spooge to do some work for our company. |

you can add as much texture to a shitfuck picture as you like, it won't make it better. it only works if the base is good. |

Shouldn't this rampage be stopped already. I believe this forum is for most of us artists to learn. If anyone want to rant, go else where...if u don't do art or like looking at or learning from them, please take personal matter elsewhere.
Great work everyone.
And Thanks
Ceenda>> Thanks...it was from photo ref, but I use color palette which is inspired by the great BENGAL. Also love your work over here.
Sat night, just got back from the bar...Drunk and don't really know what the hell I am doing. But here it is.

spooge demon i like your texture work very mutch. so i have a question about it. are you using some scanned textures, some custom made ones? are this only custom made brushes with texture patterns? is it a result of making the brushes just for this particular picture, or You have some prepered ones? maybe alot of this is made with painter? please just tell me how, the hell, you're doing this?! ;)
thx for any answer. if this was asked somewhere before just ignore me.
another one...

Good work everyone as usual!
Spooge, I have a question for you: how do you set up those saturation differences in your backgrounds?
For example, that girl in the green field painting, are those intensity variations based on simply what looks good, to create interesting contrasts or is there a compositional meaning when placing those 'saturated green' and 'desaturated brown' kind of spots? Is there some kind of focal point idea behind this? Something like cooler areas withdraw as opposed to warm ones etc. Do you just do it based on intuition? I'd be really glad if you'd explain the thought pattern behind this. |

Hey Ceenda,
Is your image in reference to Bernad Cornwell's Sharpe's novels? He definitely looks like the Richard Sharpe type from the 95th rifles with a little Nick Fury thrown in!

Hahaha! Yes it is!
I'm a huge Sharpe fan and pretty much any Napoleonic drama stuff. The uniform is based on the 95th rifle company. Probably more Captain Fredrickson than Sharpe though. I think he deserved his own show more than Sharpe did! |

A whole bunch of stories can be written about the capers of Captain Hogan, he was always up to no good! I like to listen to the audio books while I'm working and I can't wait for the newest book, Sharpe's Escape I think to be released sometime this year. You can find out more at www.bernardcornwell.net.
This is cool, I've never met anybody else who's even heard of the series let alone would do a painiting about it.

shota: you might like this one too then. It's the sinister Major Ducos from the Sharpe series. Paused one of the DVDs for ref.

i like it, ax-hv! but what concerns me: the light strokes on the edges of the sails make them look overdone for the distance of the ship and for the general level of detail in your pic. instead you could take this little brush and "fake" some detail in the foreground like, um, these little bright points on stranding waves, know mean? ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) _________________ known as "ChrisNix" elsewhere. |
