Well not really a nazgul... An old idea of mine reworked. Photoshop 7. Experimenting with texture, not totally happy with it. I randomized as many things as I could in a pattern-brush, but it still comes out a bit too regular, like canvas or the back of masonite. Advice, c&c, overpaints, anything welcome.

Damn Steven, I wish I had some advice to offer you, but this looks great to me as it is. I don't know what you want to be "different" or "better" about it, but I think it works as it is now. Move on to the next, this one's fine. Smile

very nice steven.
For me the things you've done with this picture appeals a lot more than the motif itself.
The way you played with the mix of colors like on that right wing, did you do that with random color effect on some brushes or manually ?
I also like how you played with translucency. I love when that is done well, it gives nice effects. I really like the the brush use and contrast, which I personally think works very well, because for me it doesn't need more detail but still it looks like the picture has more details than it really has. For me a I prefer a picture rendered this way more than that "killer-tinkerbell" you recently did. Because it looks like you've spent less time refining, but still the technique-use gives the picture more tension and things to analyze and enjoy for an artist...Nice suff!

Hats off to that man! I really like this. Perhaps the bottom of the picture is a little indistinct. I'd be interested to see what could be achieved by losing the debris on the bottom right corner, and piling it higher on the left. I think this could create a more dynamic shape, and heighten the sense of impending disaster for the heroine.

Nice... a suggestion. Check out using displacement filters (Photoshop) along with various opacity quick masks together to achieve some interesting texturing. This is digital... it's not *just* about the brushes... Smile

Thank you! Smile Some very good advice. I'll try to make an update soon...
No, I don't think I'll be doing this in 3d. Not right now anyway.
