When you are starting a digital painting, do you guys normally just start straight in Painter or Photoshop, or do you first sketch it on paper and scan it in? Trying to figure out what would be most practical.
And what do you find is a good picture size to work with in you program? |

Ten people will give 10 different answers. It depends on what you're comfortable with, how powerful your computer is, and what you intend to do with the final result. |

I typically slap blotches of color on the screen that represent a silhouette of what my mind's eye is seeing and then zoom in for the fine detail. Obviously I couldn't do this until after I trained my eye to have a sensitive understanding of depth, which took years to develop, and that's why my method isn't very practical to you probably. |
