hi. i'm sure you've all heard this ramble before but i'll try to stay short. basically i'm a beginner don't knowing what the heck i'm doing, but since i saw some of CaptnFlushgarden's pictures last year i wanted to try it myself, so i did.

my thought is that by trying lot's of different styles/things, i'll understand what i can/can't do, and where i should put my efforts to improve. of course all those values, anatomy, and perspective things, as well as basic drawing and panting flow is just up to myself to learn, pracice and getting better at, but i really don't know where to start. i figured i can't learn everything at the same time, so any hint about where i can begin would be greatly appreciated.

here are my posts so far, in no particular order. some of them with ref, and some without. oh, and sorry for re-posting.

hey

yea a difficult question and a bit difficult to answer too. I am also still tryin to learn the different ways how art works, a lot of things to think of.
I think you are on a good start here and it is always good to experiment a lot and make speedys often. I think you mentioned the most of the stuff that has to be worked on yourself above.
A good tip would be to look at others work and examine the pieces for a while and see how they have solved a thing, then try to remember some of the stuff and make an own version. Ref usage is good aswell, be careful with too much copying though cause it is easy to get stuck with it.

keep drawing and painting
see you
Matthew

I guess I really like your paper effect cause I can never get it to look any good. Pics 2,7,8 are really nice .. graphic and atmospheric. Hey whats wrong with a lens flare?? If its used right. If it works go with it. Dont limit yourself with rules.
By the way check out cgchannel .. I put one of my robot pics on there .. seems like alot of people like em. Razz
Also your website doesnt seem to work ?? could only check out, Im guessing your head moving back and forth.
