Ok this will lower the quality of this page but at least it'll bump this thread back to where it should be...

back in the saddle - improvised watercolors on a bad paper, uh, I learned what not to do next time... loved the process, even if I didn't control it at all- will be back at them WC. Line works with the wrong pencil, couldn't do values. We got a saying in france " a good worker has good tools " ahaha Wink
the poses were 4mn ones, i think.
swarm, your oils are really nice.
Xia : nice studies

Beat : merci, moi je suis un gros fan de tes lignes pures et de ton choix de montr certaines parties du corps et d'en laisser imaginer d'autres...

Sear : merci, haha yeah there are some good painters in france... but Hale is not french :(

swarm, wazzup: great work.

been absent for a while. Moved cities. New computer. no scanner.

Here is a charcol study that is nearly finished. It is a "tonal study" from life. Academic, yes, but as an exercise, I have learned quite a bit.

So much great work in this thread. Truly inspiring...

Swarm: You give such life to those dull colors, amazing work.

XIA: The simplicity of those sketches are superb, dear-lord... Shocked I tend to keep my pencil on the paper and make to many bad lines...

Briscola: I love that right leg study.

Popeye: Great talent in Line work, Jebus Christ Nugget!

I have some work from my first life drawing class. I'm currently in Life II now. I'm still trying to get down a style so pretty varied right now I think I see form and value better than line. I also tend to elongate things since I have a long face/body (Trying to get out of that habit *Slaps hand with a sighting stick*)

Wish my Life drawing classes had better poses, lots of boring studies ahead.

Hope this thread stays alive.

A few one-minute studies in conte from class today:
(I apologize for the poor quality of the images- I lack a proper digital camera)

One hour with a handful of conte crayons (my first value/color figure study in conte)

exciting page. great work all.

again the gouache. felt like a little progress was made although I still need to attack the values faster and stop treating it like watercolors:

varnum, I'm a big fan.

first traditional media paint in a lonngg time. Need to do way more. Mixing colours is a a lot of fun and is what I miss most in digital media..
