Actually McKack ... Aiptek / Nisis and Trust tablets are identical as far as I can see ... and the Trust tablet you mentioned has 2xAAA batteries included ... one goes in the pen ... and one goes in the mouse ... so it don't really matter which brand you get ... because the hardware is all the same ...

The thing you should make sure about is that you get the one with the best warranty / service / driver development ... and / or the best price ...

Trust tablets have a 2 year warranty ... Wacom Graphire2 has 1 year ...

Yes thought I said so too... Anyway I didn't notice the batteries for the Trust pen/mouse cause the Trust site don't exactly like to brag about it, "hidden" in the technical specifications...

About warranty and service, again the Trust tablet stands out for me cause there's a local shop here that sells it... So if anything happens to it I'll just drop the problem in their laps, meaning I won't have to ship the 2kg heavy tablet all over...

McKack:

I have a wacom tablet, bought at a local shop here in Gjvik. Just go to the wacom site, search for distributors in your local region. Mine was around 150$ (1300 KR).

I also tested some trust tablets before I bought the wacom, and... the trusts reallllllly suck compared to the wacoms. There`s a reason they are more expensive.

Thanks for the tip but I've bought the biggest Trust tablet Smile So it'll have to do right now. I personally think it's ok, but then again I don't know what a wacom is like so I can't compare...

Here's the first little thing I drew with the tablet (ignore the white fading, I just tried to draw a head so I didn't focus on the body, and he's not a human hence the ear-shape):

Nice! What Trust tablet did you buy?

Can you draw a smooth curved line, if you draw the line quite fast?

The biggest difference between the trust and a similar wacom is that the Trust updates 40 times per second and the wacom updates up to 200 times. 40 may not sound that much, but a mouse updates 60 times. You can try setting your mouse to update 40 times in the mouse settings/hardware/advanced. You can even try setting your mouse as low as 20 times per second.

Thanks. I bought the biggest Trust tablet - the 1200 model

(A4 paper laying on the tablet above)
I got a usb mouse so I can't set the update rate but I have a perfect understanding about update rates on mouse and other input devices like tablets and so on. I like the tablet very much but I can try to imagine what the difference is like whith the update rate...

ive got a trust 400 tablet, and the only complain i have is the pen. it feels a bit plastic'ish and cheap. Sometimes it loses contact too, but if i take it away from the tablet and back again its fine. I suppose i would want a heavier more solid pen. does wacom have that?

wacom tablets don't use batteries in any shape or form..

they work using electro static Smile theres a grid in the tablet and a wire coil in the pen, when the pen is on the tablet it is picked up with the grid in the tablet.. (u can trace through 5mm of lineboard by the way)

I'd like to say, that every Tablet sucks - except Wacom.

My last Apitek broke after two days of using, but that time was enough to get sure its sucks.

Woopie! Almost a year since I posted in this thread Very Happy
I may now share my humble experience with you guys concerning the Trust tablet.
The A4 size was really way too big, for me anyhow, despite what I would think. Physically it was too big, got in the way etc. and I didn't need/get to use the entire active area. The price was ok, and as a starter for someone that doesn't really wanna do some serious work I think this tablet works out just fine, but I'd recommend the A5 or A6 instead. Big downsides with these tablets must be the pen that requires batteries. I however bought two rechargables so I had one ready at any time. The weight of the pen didn't bother me at all but the shape and touch to it didn't quite seem right. No rubbergrip, just a big bold plastic thingy... AND NO ERASER! After using the tablet for a while I realized how a simple eraser could have saved me some time and just made things a bit easier.

Conclusion...
Wanna goof around? - Trust
Anything else - Wacom
And don't go spend/waste your money on a big tablet that you'll never get to fully take advantage of.
Hope anything made any sense.
Wink

Anyway I'm now selling my Trust tablet and getting a Wacom Graphire3 A5 or A6... Thats what I'm trying to figure out over here:

k, didn't read ALL the posts, 'cause i gotta run - but here's my little 2 cents:

i had a debate before i bought my tablet whether or not to go w/ the larger, more expensive tablet, or the smaller one - the grapphire 2 only comes in one size - 4x5. I have an Intous 2 which comes in many more sizes, but i bought the 4x5 (smallest size) for $200. The grapphire2 is $100 (from their site, for US at least- you can check at www.wacom.com). The important part is the pressure levels - an intuos2 has 1024 pressure levels, a grapphire2 has something like 500 or a little more. which isn't bad but isn't as strong as an intuos. as to the size, i work fine on this size - what it means is if you make a little stroke on the tablet, it'll make a larger stroke on the screen - if you have a larger tablet, a larger stroke would be required to make the same stroke length as you did w/ the smaller tablet - it's not a big deal - you adjust w/ whatever size you have - i've used a larger one too - it all depends - how much do you want to move your arm/wrist/hand? =D

good luck - go w/ a wacom - they're nice stuff =)
