Here's a piece that Kenny Lammers and I worked on. He modeled the characters, I did the textures, shading, lighting, rendering. Then I took it into photoshop and tweaked it further.
Do you think it would be better if they were centered in the composition rather than offset to the side?
Let me know what you think.
thanks ya' all

The composition looks great ! I would not center the players, I think bringing the subjects in from the side like that adds to the dynamics of the ' Face Off ' . The negative space is working nicely against the foreground, so no, I would center them. This image is first rate, you can feel the ice. Very well done. |

Awesome work, though the question arises as to why a goalie would be facing off with a regular player. _________________ It has been clinically proven that other people's pain IS funny. |

Thanks Paavo and dfacto.
Dfacto, to answer your quesetion:
The goal of the image was to convey a sense of rivalry between two NHL teams. Even though you'll never see a goalie facing off with a player, I felt that doing so, helped prove the point even further. There are always two kinds of rivalry in hockey. One is the team against the team, but then there's a personal rivalry between the player and the goalie. I felt that juxtaposing both rivalries in one, made the tension that much more interesting. |

Thanks!
Nope, not rain or glass. It's really just some abstract atmospheric texturing that represents the scratches on the ice. |
