It's intentionally incoherent, because I've always been fond of making things that have a mystery to them but still maintain a casual basis with reality unlike Picasso's stuff. The color use is depressing, I know ( Sad ), but if anyone needs any inspiration 'thinking out of the box' this is a good piece for you.

I love the "Low res is to avoid theft:" part
what is it, a seward cap, a very flat and round beetle? spot light of a VW car under water with loads of seaweed on it? torpedo hatch of a WWII sub? a green hole?

whicked man! Wink

A wise man once said "All great art is misunderstood"...
This, my friends might just be great art. Question

I expected this kind of response, and it's funny, because art has become more about recycling and refining the methods and art styles of other artists than it has become about aiming for real innovation. I'm not saying bowl is a work of genius, but atleast it's not another fine art painting of greek gods with one dimensional expressions, or any of the other crap the art community has been saturated by. I'm primarily a texture artist for games, if that explains things a little better, though. And I'll make sure if I show anything on here again it's something that's more accessible to the comic book generation.

Rereading my post, I do sound a little cocky. But it's just my hatred for the people who think foreshortening and dynamic figures are needed to give a painting purpose. I honestly respect the average sijun member, though, there's a heavy concentration of talented individuals here.

Bowl was an experiment to have concrete and moss meld together, to have one pollutant and one natural weed become something super naturally new. Maybe it seems insane to some, but I envision nature will adapt to human beings in the future to find a new way to live, and that's what bowl is an expression of. Some will hopefully see the transition of moss to concrete (from the center outwards), most will obviously see a green dot in the center of an ugly gray mess --- I don't care, it's not meant to be easily digestable.

It looks like 1 of a billion bad textures made for a crappy 3d game. So, please tell me what makes this one so much more divine ?
I still think this is suppose to be a joke, because of your ridicolous attitude, and even the most incompetent artists can see through this hoax.

Edit *I actually didn't read all your replies, so I didn't know you were a texture artist for a 3d game when I wrote this. Proves my point even stronger.

Could we at least get to see a closeup of the hi-rez version. this picture is too small to see anything.
