thanks all!
mon>> not scary enough, want a bigger one! you are a natural born creature designer.
about ref using.i think you can find over 2000 threads about this topic alone in Sijun.using photos is by no mean an improper way to work in,it depends on what you see/learn from them.my personal experience is,photos dont really bring much if you dont have the basis of understanding form and structure.but ive learnd something about how to get values right from photos, especially when you know a bit about photography.
"Nemo!!!!What are you doing there!!!"
"Dad,it was funny,i saw a girl on backseat smiling to me."

Tomasis:
it seems you really misunderstood my point. i said painting from memory only make trash, that means if you can't handle the technique of drawing, and your head memory is pool, that is unmeaning.of course, you can paint red sky or blue tree,it's up to you.what is good drawing?everyone has the different way.
that samurai without ref piece is after about 7 photo ref painting,so i can paint without ref easilly.i think that is the point.

Duracel:
thanks for give me a chance to practice my lousy english.i have remembered that spooge said.i think you had vist goodbrush.com,and see all his paintings.did you notice the number of his piece? over 400! i think the right anwser is "paint more, think more!"
for example:
1.when i was young,i don't know anything,so mountain is mountain,tree is tree,lake is lake.
2.when i grow up,and learn more,i find the mountain is not only mountain, tree is not only tree, lake is not only lake.
3.since god tell me something, mountain is just mountain, tree is just tree, lake is just lake.
1 and 3 is the samething? not really.so that is the reason why spooge said"paint less, think more". _________________ I am the king of the world! hahaha^-^ |

remember my old painting of this? guess none hehe.. my memory is not good but always I can recreate what i remember.oh it was a pirate. oh this funny hat I remember but dont how does this look exactly. the clothes. dont remember i will manage that somewhat.. of course this piece is inspired by Spooge. but I did take look of his homepage for some months ago. so I remember only blank objects with words. so I could say "Less paint, think more, time is expensive" haha
enoug of babbling should paint more so "Less babbling, paint more"
zhuzhu, it was good that I misunderstood.. sorry for that. |

I wanted to paint a quick painting but I had no inspiration, so I searched the forums for it. This is a little inspired by Duracel's red head chick on page 297.
